Tolerance to spicy food?

So, since I've started eating jalepeno peppers every day, and a lot of chili sauce, I've noticed that spicy food is becoming less and less spicy. To the point where I went to a farmers market, tried a sample of the 'world's hottest sauce' and kind of just shrugged it off, said, "its spicy, but theres no flavor. Have something that tastes good?" (to which, the stand owners jaw just kind of dropped)
Anyone else encountered this with constant exposure to spicy food?

not me....I can tolerate some spice but not killer hot...but my best friends hubby can't eat w/out a hot and I mean killer hot pepper now...he actually grows and brings his own w/ him to add to foods if he eats out because the stuff they have doesn't kick it for him.....0 -
YES!!!
I LOVE Spicy foods!! The hotter the better!
Apparently eating spicy foods envokes pain and therefore releases endorphins... making you feel GOOD!
Maybe that's why I love it? Not sure, but yes, over the years I can nearly eat habaneros without even wincing... I'll tell my BF that something isn't spicy because it doesn't even give me the slightest twinge on my tongue and he is dripping in sweat and coughing and eyes watering...
So yes.. it's possible :bigsmile:0 -

I have a lot of friends from Mexico and their version of mild is my version of spicy, hot. But they say it is what they grew up on. My kids seem to have a higher tolerance for spicy food since they started eating it when they were two. I never ate much of it when I was a kid because my dad didn't like it. But I too have noticed a higher tolerance for in the past year since being introduced on a regular basis to authentic Mexican dishes. Just watch your that your stomach lining doesn't start smoking.0
