Help, please :(

Hi,

So I've just started my weight loss journey. I really need help understanding the math here. I want to loose 15-20 pounds. It really doesn't matter how much time it takes, but the sooner the better. I aim to eat 1500 calories a day and burn at least 500 calories in the gym everyday, but it's all just estimate.

How many calories should I eat everyday and burn at the gym everyday to reach my goal? I am female, 5'3 and weigh 135 pounds. I'm a full time student. If anyone could help me out, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

For the amount of weight you want to lose, you need to aim for 0.5-1 lb/wk lost. This equates to eating 250-500 calories less than you burn per day.

If you go through the "guided" goals wizard on this site, answer the questions honestly, log whatever extra calories you burn at the gym, and just eat until your "calories remaining" are zero. That simple!

In addition to what GauchoMark said, be sure that you eat enough otherwise your body will going into a starvation mode and you won't lose weight. Ideally, most women shouldn't go below 1,200 calories a day, I believe.

Since you are already in the healthy weight range maybe all you need is to work out and tone up? You aren't over weight so you probably already eat well. If not eat more healthy foods.
