Hello,
Just wondering if there's any one else in the same boat. I had my son just a little over a year ago and was 139lbs prepreg. I am now about 147lbs. and I am not fitting my size 28 prepreg pants. Im wearing a 31-32. Can 8lbs really make a difference to go from size 32 to 28 pants!?!?!?!?!?!? OR is this as close to my prepreg clothes Im ever going to get? Have my hips have widened and there is a way to lose the last 8 lbs BUT I will still never fit into the prepreg clothes??? C,mon tell me, is this the way it is or what? Thx

Of course you can get back to the size you want! You can do it! Being pregnant does change your body but you can do anything you set your mind to. How tall are you? You may not need to lose weight but may need to increase your muscle. Try lifting weights and butt and thigh exercises.0

Im 5'9". I've been lifting weights for about 2 months now. 2-3 times a week - heavy. It's definitely fat that needs to go off the belly and thighs. But what Im wondering is 8lbs more lost really going to make the difference that I need to fit into these clothes!0

I'm not entirely sure if this is true but I am pretty sure your hips widen a bit after giving birth. I read somewhere that it's like half an inch per child or something. Even skinny girls who bounce back from their baby weight within a month of giving birth, have wider hips. Having said that, I am the same dress size now as I was before I fell pregnant but my pre pregnancy clothes are tight on me. The new size 12's I buy fit me nicely. Crazy I know but totally true lol. Either they have upped my dress size in the last 19 months, or I have lost my mind somewhere lol.0

I fit back in my pre pregnancy clothes after the birth of my daughter. Sorry I can't give you any advice on getting back there because I was one of the lucky ones that bounced back right away but it is possible.0

I'm size pounds heavier but in a smaller size....
I'm blaming it on the lifting heavy weights0 -
I am also 5'9 and I am actually down 20lbs from my prepregnancy weight and still not fitting nicely in to my former wardrobe. I am not a fitness or maternity expert; but, from my experience it is not the scale number that I can count on to get me in to those clothes!0

Just keep doing what you're doing and you will be in even better shape than before! Patience0

I'm 2lbs off right now (my son turns 6 months next week!), and I still can't fit into my pre-pregnancy jeans. My issue is not so much my hips but my thighs. I hope things fit you again...worst comes to worst you get a new wardrobe!0

I weigh LESS than when I got pregnant with my first child, but my pre-preg clothes don't fit right. The weird thing is, my hips are more narrow...it's my waist that's bigger. While there are certainly women who don't seem the least bit changed after pregnancy, I don't think it's that uncommon for your shape to just be different enough that your pre-baby clothes don't feel or look right.0

I have the same issue. I dom't know if this is the same for you, but my problem is that, while I'm the same weight, my bodyfat % went way up. Sounds like you're doing the right things. Keep working at it!0

your body changes with pregnancy. most women's bodies change shape. you won't fit into clothes the same as you did before you had kids. you can be the same size, and wear those clothes, but they'll likely look different on you. I was a size 12 when i got pregnant. i got up to an 18. i'm now a 6/8. you can definitely do it, it just takes time and hard work!!0

I have had two littles. I think being preg does widen the hips. so you might not fit into your old clothes like you used to..... but... I also know alot of us who weight more now, but wear a smaller size because we have more muscle due to lifting ( weights or littles or choice I think your body may change, but you make the most of it0

8lbs can make a huge difference0

You can get into those pants again, but your body does change with pregnancy, some things do fit differently though! Everyone is different so hard to know how things will go for you. For me it wasn't my hips that changed, it was my rib cage - it is a lot wider then it was before so if I get down to the weight I was pre-pregnancy my waist looks weird because of my ribs. *shrug*0

Pregnancy does a lot to some womens body composition. If you're at the point where your at or lighter than your pre pregnancy weight and don't fit into old clothes, it simply means that you now have a higher bf% than you did before - which is expected when creating another human being! Storing fat becomes more important than keeping muscle. Keep doing what you're doing, lift like a man, eat like a man, and you will look like a goddess :-)0

Google "5 pounds of fat" and look at the pictures of what that looks like. Then think of what almost twice that would look like. I think 8 lbs certainly makes a difference. I am nearly to where I was pre-pregnancy 5 years ago. Some things fit well, some things don't, and some thing are way too big! Our bodies change during pregnancy and it may just take a little more time to fit into some of the clothes we have saved.0

Great, thanks for all the info people. I am going to keep working at it and see what happens. Doo dee doo doo doo!0

My hips spread when I was pregnant. I was wearing around a size 0-3 depending on the brand before I got pregnant and after I had my daughter I never was able to fit into any of my pre-pregnancy jeans ever again. I was a size 5. I fluctuated between 100 and 105 before I got pregnant and got back down to 106 but was just a different body shape after the baby.0
