30 Day Shred

Gonna start 30D Shred on Saturday. I am planning doing 5 days and taking 2 days break to help my muscles recover and then another five days and so on or is it best to do it without any breaks.

I do it Monday - Friday and take weekends off but it's really a personal preference. I'm on the smaller side so I haven't noticed any big changes physically but my endurance has definitely improved. Today was day two of level two.
  • I just take a break whenever I want one really. I'm on Day 2 of Lvl 3 and I started Jan 8 and I can still absolutely tell a difference in my body so far.-- 2 days off a week should absolutely be fine

I am on day 3 of Level 1. I intend on doing ten days of level one and then taking a day or two break. I really don't know yet. I usually take a couple of days off per week from exercising. I guess it just depends on how I feel.

    Good luck!

It's my last day of level 3 tomorrow. I've been taking a days rest every 5 days and have definitely needed it!

Stick with it......it's tough but good

I found that having a day or two off was fine, but over the Christmas holidays I didn't do it for 4 days due to family being here and I found it really hard and ended up having to do more days on that level to catch up again. Also, even when my muscles were really sore at the beginning I still did it and it seemed to helped the soreness and it was a lot easier after the third day. Keep going, it produces absolutely amazing results.

I started on Tuesday, took Wed off as I was SO sore (still walked 30 min and swam 30 min though) and then did it again Thursday and the second time I did it was easier and I wasn't as dead after and this morning I'm sore, but not completely locked up the way I was!

Jillian actually said in a podcast that it wasn't meant to be 30 days in a row, that the title was a marketing thing because there were 3 levels at 10 days each (but the 10 days didn't need to be consecutive) and she recommended - 2 day shred, 1 day cardio, 2 day shred, 1 day cardio, 1 day rest.

Hi I'd like some info on the 30 day shred, is it weights mostly? how long is each session? thanks
  • I completed it a couple of years ago, and I'm going to do it again in March. Trust me, you are going to need to take days off to rest your muscles. Have fun! You can do it!!!!

It's 27 mins all up, including warm up and cool down.

Once you warm up, it is a cycle of 3 min "strength" where you use small hand weights (mine are 1kg), then 2 min cardio, then 1 min abs. this cycle is repeated 3 times with different exercises for each category so you don't get bored.

I like it, the way it is set up makes it go fast and just when you think you might conk out, the pace changes.

I just finished my 30 days. Over the program I took 4 days off but they were not consecutive.

Thanks everyone for your replies. It is very helpful. I do assume I won't need to go to the Gym (as I do now) while I am doing this.

so i did day 1 level 1 last night...holy heck i thought i was going to die 9and i didnt think i was that bad out of shape). I actually felt ok with the cardio, felt like i could do more, but the strength training..OMG!!! i randomly use the weight machines at the gym (although i havent in a significant amount of time due to a broken bone and lifting restrictions) and i could lift a decent amount, so i read people saying use 1-2 pound weights, i dont have those, the smallest i have is 5 pounds, i figured i can lift 10x that at the gym, i can do 5 pounds...OMG again...idk i might go buy 3lbs. Tonight i will be doing day 2 level 1, i will be taking a day off on Saturday due to other engagements but im hoping it gets easier.
  • Sounds like what we do in senior fitness class only ours is 4 minutes of cardio, 3 of weights, 2 of core and 1 of balance. This goes on for an hour with 5 minutes of warm up and cool down.
