Need to loose weight for the health of my future baby.

We are thinking about baby #2 and I know I need to be fit to give him the best start I can health wise. There is a strong correlation between maternal weight at the time of the conception and long term health of the baby.
I was 130 before my first pregnancy (my optimal weight) but I gained almost 70lb!
I am 160 now and that 30 lb has to go before I attempt to get pregnant again.
I am 34 and should not wait more than a year to conceive, as there are increased risk with pregnancies after 35. So I am on a tight deadline here. I should get to target this year.
Plus, I want to look hot again and feel healthy and fit.

First off, loose the deadweight of lugging around all those baby books that tell you that you have to be "perfect" to have a healthy baby. If you want to get to a healthier weight for you, then do it. Your baby will be healthy as long as you are. Gestation weight has much to do with maternial diet and any metobolic syndroms of the mother. Potential correlation =/= causation (I'm sure the diet/exercise level of those with high BMI's was less healthy than those with average BMIs).
The whole no babies after 35 went out the window with no white after labor day, and no heavy weights for women. Most of the "studies" from those days were often anecdotal, and very inaccurate.
So, stop reading perfect people manuals, stop stressing, and make healthy changes for YOU.0 -
I got married in 2012 and lost 4.5 stone on the Cambridge plan but after the event I didn't have the motivation and now I've put on 3 stone. I want to lose weight again to help me to get pregnant. I'm 33 and this would be our first so don't even know if its possible after what they say about being overweight and fertility.
If you've done it once I'm sure it'll be fine. But I know what you mean about getting fit and feeling good.
Stay strong, lots of luck

there is no better motivation than that of doing something with your child in mind!0

The increased risk is very small, but after 35 it gets harder to conceive so it if a good idea to try sooner (though I conceived 1st attempt at 36). Good to want to life weight, but focus your energy on healthy eating. Dark greens and plenty of chicken or turkey for the early days of conception to give a potential foetus the best start. Good allround fitness too like swimming0

Just with the baby thing, your risks increase after 37. I had baby #1 at 36 and #2 at 39. And I have perfect babies, and trouble free pregnancies and was very overweight for both. Just saying so you will stop stressing about the timeline.
Regardless, good luck. Babies are awesome!0
