Trying for first time

Hello all, I am switching from weight watchers based on friends referrals. Although I had success with weight watchers, I felt that the point structure did not truly help me impact what I was eating or change my lifestyle but so much. I am always interested in hearing your pros and cons on this program.
Thanks,
Giovanni

I have been on MFP for a little over a month. I have had success losing weight with WW, but when I get past my introductory price, then I don't want to spend the money any longer. Once I go off and am no longer counting my points, I just don't make the effort and gain back what I have lost.
On MFP, it is a lot easier for me because calorie counts are everywhere. I don't have to factor in the carbs and fats and the dietary fiber. I just know that I have 1270 calories in a day and that information is easy to find on the back of packages or on restaurant websites. It works for me.
I also like the fact that I can log in my food from my kindle fire, my android phone or from my computer. Being able to look up the calories on my phone while at a restaurant is also very helpful. MFP has a very extensive database of information, because the members built it. I have to watch that, because sometimes the info isn't accurate, but I can usually find something pretty close.
The forums on MFP are also very helpful.
Work hard and I know you will achieve your goals!0 -
I have lost quite a bit on MFP and I attribute that to the food log. So easy to fool myself into saying I don't eat that much, but when I log it I can't say that! And so easy to look up the calories on anything! Plus I don't have to attend meetings, weigh in front of people, or pay anything. And at this time in my life, the simpler the better!!
Good luck to you....feel free to add me! We're all in this together!!0 -
People do the work and MFP is a tool to help you work whatever plan you are on or working out for yourself. I try to incorporate the healthy food ideas of Daniel Amen, Joel Fuhrman and others and use this site to track what I am doing. That is why its working for so many people. Whatever you are trying to do you can use this tool to your advantage.
I've dropped 128 in seven months and still going strong. Anyone is welcome to add me.0 -
I did WW a few years ago, and I gained all of the weight back. The convenience of this site, the food/exercise logs, the access to supportive friends, and the fact that it's FREE makes it feel much more like a lifestyle change than a diet. I have lost 38 pounds and I'm at the beginning of maintaining this weight, which is the lowest it's been in 20-25 years!0

I used to be a weigher for WW and was a lifetime member. The pro for me is MFP is real life and its FREE AND more support than going to a meeting once a week. Ive been on here over a year and Ive made supportive friends etc. tracking calories is REAL life, counting points is not. So many people on Weight Watchers do well when they stick to the progeam but you find yourself counting less and less each day (saving points for special occasions less) and thats when it doesnt work. MFP has helped me to maintain my weight and I also have friends on here who are losing. If you get the mobile App you can even track while you are at a restaurant etc and no one will even know what you are doing. Its so convenient. The threads are great on here also for great recipes and fitness advice.0

I joined on Jan 1st and love the support and encouragement received on this site. I've only lost 8 lbs. so far, but slow and steady they say and I have found I am much more conscious of my food choices and even how I shop now. Congrats on the join! Feel free to add me as a friend.0
