Most of you know how much us from Louisiana love our food! And why shouldn't we? We have some of the best food around! Creole and cajun cooking, seafood fresh from the Gulf...we have it made! Well it's Mardi Gras time and they don't call it Fat Tuesday for nothing lol.
Now before I started tracking my calories, I was doing bad. Two Mardi Gras parties which meant lots of alcohol and awesome catered cajun food at both parties and I indulged in both. Especially the alcohol lol. So far we have gone to two parades in which even more alcohol was consumed. I thought I was being smart by mixing my coconut rum with DIET 7up until I learned today that my rum is 51 calories per ounce! Should have just went ahead and used regular 7up! I will not be drinking at tomorrow's parade and I hope I can remain strong at the after party lol.
I just started this week back at the gym and keeping track and making sure not to go over my calories. This week on at least 2 separate occasions they have had King Cake in the break room at work. This is something I only get once a year but I have not had one single bite of King Cake this Mardi Gras season. We also had a birthday party for a lady at work today. My weakness...cookie cake with icing on it! I wished her a happy birthday but refused the cookie cake. My office manager said, "Oh just one little sliver!" I haven't changed my weight on here as of yet. I want to wait until Monday and see what the scales say then, but I weighed yesterday and today and according to the scales, I have lost 3 lbs. this week. I realize it's mostly water weight and I realize that I'm not going to lose that much every week but the way I look at it, a pound is a pound and I have worked hard. Keep your cookie cake! LOL!

You just had to mention beignets, didn't you? LOL! That is my weakness! We go to New Orleans a lot during the spring...at least every other weekend and we always pop in Starbucks for a mocha frappuccino since I don't like hot coffee and then we head over to Cafe Du Mondes for beignets. Crawfish is in season and low in calories and my son has requested a crawfish boil for his 17th birthday in April. We can do that! LOL! They just came in season so they are crazy expensive right now and not all that big so I'll wait a couple of weeks before we get any. I would send you a King Cake if it wasn't so expensive to send them. It used to be about $30 but it's even more now. You can go to Paul's Pastry web site and order one to be shipped if you don't mind paying dearly for it. The blueberry and cream cheese filled ones are THE BEST!!!

Great job with the self control. I myself am planning on allowing myself to indulge on "Fat Tuesday" !!! I will have one piece of King Cake and one Strawberry Paczki. These foods are only available for one week A year, ( at least here in Northern Indiana) so I will use that as my "treat" for the week. I may even have a beer. I am just afraid I will feel like I am depriving myself and get discouraged.
