Question: TOPIC: In Place of a Road Map 2.0 (Revised) 7/2/12

Hi there! I am doing my equations so I do the program and I have a question if you do not mind! ....

If I take my BMR from Harris Benedict:
1370
Than take my Daily Calories Goal: Sedentary
(I really do sit at the computer all day and prefer to tract and eat back my exercise calories)
1644
Subtract 20%
328.8
Equals:
1315.2 as my base

This is less than my BMR ... is that right? I thought I was never to go below that? Did I do something wrong? I do get VERY dyslexic when it comes to numbers!

Thank you in advance!!!!

(Here is the screen with my info)

Harris-Benedict Formula
There are a few different methods to calculating yourbasal metabolic rate (BMR). One of the most popular, developed in the early 1900's is called the Harris-Benedict formula. Based on this formula, your current BMR is 1370 calories.

Katch-McArdle Forumla
The numbers above are fairly accurate, however they don't take into account your lean body mass. A more accurate formula that does take your lean body mass into account is the Katch-McArdle formula. Since many of us have scales that will tell us our current body fat, this formula may yield more accurate results. Based on the information you provided, body fat percentage of 37.5%, you have a lean body mass of 91 lbs., and your BMR is 1263 calories.

Activity Level Daily Calories
Sedentary (little or no exercise, desk job) 1644
Lightly Active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/wk) 1884
Moderately Active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/wk) 2124
Very Active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days/wk) 2363
Extremely Active (hard daily exercise/sports & physical job or 2X day training, i.e marathon, contest etc.) 2603

I didn't check your calculations, but assuming you are correct, that means a 20% is too large of a deficit for the amount you have to lose. Scale back the deficit to 10%, or just eat somewhere between your BMR (net calories!) and TDEE and you will do fine. Make sense?
