As long as there isn't caffeine in it you should be alright.
However, water remains the best purifier for your body - it flushes out all the toxins. Try taking a few sips at a time and you will grow to like it!

Ultimately, there is no perfect substitute for water because of the many many benefits it provides.
Unsweetened tea is OK to drink in moderation because there are no calories. However, you do need to watch the caffeine because too much is not good.

I shocked my drs a few times when I was required to drink water for test and threw it up. I just could not keep plain water down at all. Then I got pregnant with my daughter and knew I was going to have to do those same test I took numerous times before, and wanted to be a good mommy so I practiced water. Oh it still took a long time, and I cannot drink it cold at all still. But a room temp I am finally able after alot of training and forcing. Seriously.

And yes, I did drink water to lose my 80 lbs. It was a struggle but in a long run it did clean out my body and make me feel better. Now I don't gag when I look at it. Plus, you don't want sugary drinks when trying to count down on weight because it will just make you hungryier. So in answer to your question, I think you should try and try again with just plain water, and only drink tea to one cup at night for satisfaction.

    1. How about adding a touch of lemon juice to your water? Or heat the water (as if for tea) and add a touch of juice to it.
    2. What do you put into your tea? Plain tea is calorie-free, but if you need sweetener, can you use artificial sweeteners?
    3. If you normally add milk, can you put in fat-free milk?

I drink fennell tea (a few grains of fennell seeds added to two cups of water and placed in the microwave for about 3 minutes). It is okay to drink the seeds as you drink your tea. It has a slightly licorice flavor, you do not have to add anything to it, and seems to help my stomach work better--less gas, etc.
Other teas, mint, chamomile, etc., are very nice and would qualify as water, in my humble opinion. ;)

I drink 2 cups of tea on average each day and I do count it towards my water intake. However, I am also drinking my 16 oz water bottle empty 3 times a day at work and usually at least once more in the evening. So I'd say its ok to count it but I definitely suggest drinking regular water with it as well.

I think that caffeine free herbal teas/infusions that are brewed with no sweetener could be considered basically the same as water. Once you start getting into other teas (I am a tea lover, All kinds!) then you have other things to keep in mind, like caffeine and if your defenition of tea is a powdered mix, then no.

I have to force myself to drink plain water. It is hard. Lemon helps. I hate it cold. The best thing I did was buy a really nice water purifier. It is not a RO system but close.
