Hey! So recently I have decided to start losing some weight. In around 6 weeks time I have lost 10kg/22lbs. I think it's a decent result however the biggest problem is my current body fat. I Have no way of measuring my body fat yet I can tell that's the main issue. I lose weight but my belly is still huge. Any tips on how to get rid of it? Fairly quickly of course.

Unfortunately, you can't spot reduce fat. When you lose weight, your body takes it from all over, kind of like peeling layers off an onion. The worst part too, is that the areas that have the most fat (which is different for everyone) are usually the places that hold onto it the most. I like to do weekly measurments so I have a more reliable tool for seeing where the fat is coming off, but it's not perfect. You could also purchase fat calipers but that's not quite perfect either. On the plus side, some studies have shown that including monounsaturated fatty acids into your diet (from peanuts, olive oil, avocados, and other nuts) might help you to shed that belly fat faster, provided that eating those things doesn't bump you above your cal counts!

You can't spot reduce unfortunately. Belly fat is generally the last to go because it is the bulk of the storage. Just keep losing and it will eventually be gone. Your body burns fat from whatever region of the body it wants to...you have no control over that aspect of weight loss.
  • So what weight should I be aiming at? I am currently at 90kg with around 28% of body fat. I have been 101kg 6 weeks ago and I regret not measuring my body fat back then.

Olive oil is the only thing I eat. Also - are you sure you mean peanuts? Not just normal nuts?
  • I feel your pain I have lost 47 pounds in a little over 6 months but still have more stomach fat than i would like for sure but i definitely know that my stomach is much smaller, my advise is go to your closet find a shirt that you know was a little tight or snug on you before and try it on you will more than likely be very happy and surprised how much better the fit is sometimes it helps to get a feel comparison to help with the visual I hope this helps you your doing A GREAT JOB keep up the hard work feel free to add me if you would like cheers!!!
  • My new jeans I recently bought are size 36 while previously I had to buy 38 or 40. This is currently the only way to see that I actually lose weight. Still. Thanks a lot for any help :)

Yes, peanuts (or natural peanut butter) is loaded with monounsaturated fatty acids but it's also loaded with calories so watch your portion sizes! If this is something you're interested in learning more about, you should take a look at the "Flat Belly Diet" which uses this as a big point.
  • I may need additional help! I am currently on a 1200kcal low-carb diet with 5 meals daily. I drink water only and my only issue is the fact that I use salt. Not a lot but I use salt for food as well as black pepper. I do some exercises but I lack equipment. Which excercises could you recommend to lose stomach fat (without any equipment)?
