Hello, I'm Lacy.
I'm 19. I am trying to gain weight. I have always been genetically skinny ever since I was little and, I'm looking for friends that may be in the same situation. So, if you happen to be...let me know!!

Ahha, thank you! My mom actually got me started on this! :happy:0

I haven’t seen anyone on MFP looking to gain. There is a huge network of weight-gainers however on http://caloriecount.about.com/
You will find a lot of information and support in the forums there for naturally thin people and people who are recovering or have recovered from an ED.0 -
HI! I used to be in the same boat as you. I was about 18, and struggling just to hit 100 pounds. I think if you tried to gain muscle it would help, so lots of protein and exercise. i would try to eat a little more calories per day than you burn. also don't try and eat a lot of unhealthy foods to get more fat in your diet. thats what i did when i didn't know too much about eating healthy, and now 5 years later im here trying to lose weight! I hope this helps a little0

Ahh! Well thank you. I'm 5'8" and weigh 102 pounds at the moment. My weight has never really been an issue with me because, I just block out what people try and say to me. But, lately I have wanting to be a healthy size. I want a little more meat on my bones so, I can fit into my jeans for once! Ha!0

I've seen on here trying to gain, but they were mostly men trying to gain muscle! Andddd that's def not you  I'm sure you could blend in with this community nicely--it's the same struggle really. Welcome! :flowerforyou:0

I'm here to gain weight as well, about 30 lbs. Always been skinny, and never put on weight, lets see how tracking everything I eat works!0

Hi Lacy. I was just like you when I was young. Genetically skinny! I ate like a horse, healthy, but alot and never gained an ounce. I gained 14 pounds with my first child and he weighed 8 pounds. In my late thirties to mid forties I gained weight. Which at first was unique and fun and soon was more than I wanted.
As a younger woman I had thyroid tests and hormone tests and they were all normal. I was very fit without doing anything unusual to accomplish being fit. Although I was very active and did a lot of physical work. My metabolism was just very high.
Is this a health issue for you or just the desire to be a little more filled out?
Good luck, Alice0 -
Alice!
My mom was the same way when she was my age. Well, I eat like NO other yet, I seem to be losing weight still! In the middle of my senior year of High School in 2009 I weighed 115 and, then I got sick one night after school and there was no puking just dry heaving and, a few days after that I didn't want to eat at all. My mom thought it was weird because, OMG I love food more than anything in this world. I'm always hungry and, I'm always seen chowin' down.
I've always been questioned about my weight while growing up by school officials asking if I was anorexic or bulimic and, I always told them no and, it never bothered me because...I understood I looked unhealthy weight wise. Girls would always start rumors about my weight saying I was anorexic. It never bothered me and, it still doesn't. I just want to be more filled out.
And, I have been through tests...this is not a health issue. Thankfully.
Thank you, Lacy.0 -
Hi Lacy!
I have dealt with this my whole life. In high school I weighed around 100 lbs and I am 5'2". I actually had to try to gain weight so I could get pregnant. Everyone told me once I got pregnant I wouldn't have this issue anymore. Well, I now have two boys and am 102 lbs and age 34. I was happy with my weight a few months ago. I was 108. I have had a few crazy things happen recently and have lost weight. So I am trying to put the weight back on.0 -
I know how that is... i could never fit into any jeans. im just a couple inches shorter than you 5'6. I remember i went to my doctor when i wanted to gain weight too. I know the charts say that a healthy weight for someone my height is around 135 but i know that that is a general, because thats how much i weigh, and it doesnt look or feel good. My doctor told me that because of my smaller frame, a healthy weight for me would be around 110lbs. maybe thats a number you're trying to get closer to? GOOD LUCK!:happy:0

Well most of us here are experts at gaining weight, so welcome aboard! Sit back relax and listen to the professionals. : )0

Good luck to you! Although I've never had your problem, I guess a lot of us here are accidental experts in gaining weight! But, you surely don't want to gain the wrong kind of weight. I would guess that protein would help build muscle and frequent meals would help the calories add up. I've heard that drinking milk after exercise also helps to build muscle. I've also seen a few (very few) posts by pregnant women here who are also trying to gain weight. Maybe you could appeal to them?0
