Hi, I am a Flight Attendant and travel three to four days a week... making healthy choices can be difficult and packing your own food can be difficult for four days.. soooo... curious any suggestions that work for you when you travel???

  • I like pre-measured options, like Trader Joes raw almonds, and the "light" Kettle Corn (100 cals) for a sweet snack. It's super easy to throw in my bag. I carry lots of apples (wash at home). I also just found ProMax bars at Costco that taste good and are sweetened with Stevia (about 220-270 cals/bar). I was a f/a in the late 80's so I totally understand how brutal finding good choices are. Good luck!

I try to read the menu before I go to a restaurant and check nutrition info, if it is a chain. I also try to avoid french fries (which seem to come with everything these days!)... and dressing on the side of any salad.

pro-max bars ??? I will look for them thanks... I also really like the protein bars from Aldis.. they are really good and are great for a quick snack...also the starkist tuna pouches are great because they dont have to be refrigerated..:) What airline did you work for??
  • That would be tough. Probably the last thing you feel like doing after a long day on your feet is to hoof around trying to find a healthy place to eat. I would make good friends with my freezer and a small softsided cooler bag. When you are home prepare several healthy meals and then freeze a meal sized portion of them. With the help of fridges on the plane and in your hotel room, you should be able to keep them cool and have at least 3 healthy meals to microwave after a long day. Then I'd make use of the airport shops for stuff for quick breakfasts and lunch - yogurt, whole grain bagels, fresh fruit. With a cooler, hard cheeses, boiled eggs and raw nuts should travel well for snacks.
  • Continental Airlines started in 1987, I was a baby!!
