I don't have the lap-band, but I had gastric-bypass. Some of the experience is the same I hear.
  • Last week we talked at the doctor about converting to a gastric sleeve. I have had my lapbad for 6 years and still can't keep the weight off.

I don't know much about the gastric sleeve, but if you can't keep the weight maintained with the lap band for that long it might be a good idea. With my gastric-bypass I lost weight then suddenly stopped (mine was in 2009).
  • I love my lapband. It was the best investment in my health I ever made.

I have no regrets at all.

    I started with a 54" waist... now 32".

Please feel free to e-mail me if you any questions.

I was banded in May 2012. I lost 10 lbs on the liquid diet and 15 lbs after the band.. I wasn't impressed with it. All the weight i've lost is from being committed and exercising and dieting correctly. I would look into sleeve or bypass honestly.. the band isn't as effective IMO.
  • Thanks. It's nice to know it can work long term. I broke leg last march and exercising is still a bit iffy... I am going to start swimming next week. I hope this will help me.

I thought long and hard about getting the lapband. A few of my co-workers are very successful with this. I finally made the decision and received my lapband on 2/14/13. My Valentine's gift to me :) I lost 5 pound on the pre-op diet (7days) and am down an additional 6 so far. Feel free to friend me :)
  • juicy, that's fab! way to go.
