Ladies Bench Press Numbers

So I see very few woman at my gym bench pressing (well in the weights section at all).

How much do you all bench? I'm curious to know what the high end for a female is (including bar weight). I'm nowhere near the high end personally. I bench 85 lbs with a 45 lb bar... but I've never seen women at my gym lift more than 95 without some guy holding the bar for every rep.

Thanks!

I don't lift at a gym and I don't have that kind of equipment at home. I use 5 lb itty-bitty free weights but I do 600 lifts when I do my routine. I have 10 different exercises, 20 reps each, repeat the cycle three times. It seems to work well for me. I'd be curious to see what I could do at the gym though.

My 5-rep max is 85 lbs (pre-pregnancy). I'm hoping to work up to body weight + 20% eventually though.

Trained power lifting competitivly for a few months in 2010 before injury, my max for 1 rep was 110lb (50 kg) but for 3 x 8rep sets do around 90lb (40 kg) I trained with girls who maxed in the 200 lb range though.

I'm at 95 right now. Hoping to hit 100 very soon. 95 was my original goal for my first bulk so now I'm working on getting it up to 135. :P

Right now I'm at 65lbs for 10 reps and working my way up. Back when I was super fit from swimming and track I used to bench 90lbs for 10 reps. Hoping to get back to that and surpass it!

I haven't lifted in a while (long story, lifting is awesome though, I miss it), but my 1 rep max was 80 pounds, in the form of two 40# dumbbells.

In high school I could do 115 for 6 reps, but that was when I was in tiptop vball shape. I bet I could do 100 now, but I haven't been benching in particular, doing a lot more olympic weight stuff lately.

8 reps at 45 kg, so 99 lbs. Is half your body weight a decent bench press result? What kind of percentage body weight do the guys do?

Same with me and dumbbells. They still scare me, but I can do three sets of 10 with two forty pound dumbbells, but only if I have assistance getting them in starting position.

With the bar, last week I did 120 pounds for 8 reps, 110 for the next two sets of 10. I was proud :)

My 8 rep max is about 70% of my body weight. I have no idea what the norm was. In fact, I didn't know I was bench pressing an impressive weight until I read this thread. I just knew I was pressing more than I was last month and the month before and so on.

Just keep lifting. Your own progressive strength gains are the best marks of success.

    3 rep max 99lb

That was my first try. Im 5"3 and weigh 158lbs. Have been crossfitting for a month.
  • My one rep max is 115. My goal is to be able to do my body weight. I need to add 10 pounds to the bar and drop 10 on the scale first.
