Days will get tough, YOU need to be TOUGHER!!

I know there are days that my wife and I DO NOT want to get out of bed and do anything much less exercise. We push each other through the negative thoughts and strive for the light at the end of the tunnel. That light is: A healthy life style and being role models to our kids. They follow OUR lead! What motivates you on a tough day?

Looking in the mirror. Reminds me of how this is NOT where I want to be, and in order to get there I have to get up and do something about it
  • Great tactic Doc! That's a great way to "poke yourself in the eye" so you DON'T get back to where you were! GREAT JOB on you weight loss success!
  • I remind myself how good exercise feels once I actually get off my behind and do it. I love feeling that accomplishment and like I can conquer the world

Also, I am majorly dissatisfied with how my upper arms look, so that's another motivating factor :grumble:

I can honestly say that I am not tough and I need to be.
I want to start working out and eating a clean diet. I should take pictures of myself and post them all over the house. That might be too mean though! (on my fiance.) haha!!!

I think just knowing that you're THAT much closer to your goal weight is enough to keep the motivation streaming through your bodies! Good luck everyone!
  • The risk of failure. I'm not someone who's truly failed at much in life. And the consequences of failing to get healthy are too great to permit. I'm going through a rough patch at the moment, but I just have to tell myself that if I keep going, I'll get better *eventually*

I can't say that I'm tough. I'm actually quite the pushover, especially where it concerns kids and dogs...one glimpse of puppy eyes, and I fold up like an accordian.

What I am, though, is stubborn. Stubborn got me through a lot of terrible places in my life, and it will get me through this, too.

I take lots of pictures!! My profile picture is one that inspired me yesterday because I thought I wasn't making any progress. but after seeing the first picture juxtaposed to the current one, it gave me new hope that it is happening, even without me realizing it. Also, I have an entire folder on my computer full of clothes that I want to wear when I get closer to my goal weight. I mean, I haven't worn shorts since the 5th grade, it would be really nice to wear them again and not suffer during the summer because I think my legs are too fat! These are some of the things that keep me going on tough days.
  • You CAN do it Paige! You will find out that once you start, you WON'T want to stop and that you'll get mad when you DON'T workout! Baby steps, start with a small goal and build from there. The willingness to succeed is in all of us... including YOU!

Good luck to you as well, we all want to see you on here and the progress you've made!
  • Socialpath, the BEST thing about failure is being able to get back up and SUCCEED again! Stay with it, dig deep and NEVER give up! Stay with us!
  • Cuterbee, let stubbornness be your toughness! GREAT attitude! Keep it up!!

I just take a look in my closet at all of the cute clothes I could be wearing again if I lost the weight and that tends to get my butt in gear! I also think about all of the people who silently, or not so silently, seem to be doubting that I will actually stick with it and lose the weight. My desire to prove them wrong provides the biggest motivation I could ever find!
