You need a caloric deficit to lose weight. You can however incorporate ice-cream into your diet. Eat to a reasonable caloric deficit comprising mainly nutrient dense food. hit your macros, exercise and manage your diary so you can eat ice cream.

I know....what is up with that??
  • Ice cream is really unhealthy...there's no real benefits. I'd say eat more veggies, exercise and maintain a calorie deficit will help you most. But if you are craving for ice cream, try this:
1 banana, peeled, chopped into one inch thick, freeze it, blend it up using food processor or some sort of blender. It has the consistency and texture of ice cream but without the calories! If you like, you can also add some honey, chocolate sauce, etc etc!

What is unhealthy about it and how are there no benefits?

If you want ice-cream, there is nothing wrong with eating real ice-cream and fit it into your day. It also contains micronutients so there are benefits. Another benefit is that it is easy and very tasty.

Next winter when I want to gain 30lbs back, I'm going to leave ice-cream to melt then drink it before bed every night.

    Can't wait!!

That sounds very boring and quite restrictive. If there is one thing I dislike, it's restriction. If I can't adhere to it during maintenance, I sure won't incorporate it while cutting.
