Snack Ideas

Hiya all
Just a little curious as to what all you other busy mum's and dad's eat. any fresh ideas will be a big help. I know the norm is fresh veg but is there anything else that is filling, nutritious and most of all Yummy!:flowerforyou:
My favourite 3 dinners are
1) Golden Drummers, baked beans and oven chips
2) Spaghetti Bolognese, either made with Mince Meat or Quorn with whole meal spaghetti pasta
3) Fish portions with boiled potatoes, carrots and peas.

im a huge fan of stir frying chicken or shrimp with tons of veggies with 2 tbsp of stir fry sauces (i vary the sauces). healthy, quick, delicious i love asian food- so La Choy and other sauces in the asian section make great options!0

Omelettes with LOADS of veg! Trying really hard to eat more protein and less carb-heavy food and this is a good one for it
I also like scrambled eggs on toast, with cheese & ham primula spread on the toast before the eggs on top - mmmm cheesey!
And I love Nigella's marmite spaghetti for a quick easy tea http://www.noobcook.com/marmite-spaghetti/
Can totally relate to wanting to find quick & easy things for tea in the week. I work full time and when I get home from work, my OH goes out to his evening job leaving me with the two kids (6 & 2) and the last thing I want to do is spend time in the kitchen, I want to see my little ones!
I like to try and cook a big batch of something on a weekend - shepherds pie, bolognese, curry, fish pie, chilli, stew - and freeze it in portions so I can just bung it in the oven / microwave when I get home from work and actually spend time with my kids while it cooks rather than having to faff about. Shortcuts like those microwave pouches of rice are great timesavers too. I used to take the mickey out of one of my friends for this, but I've even started buying frozen mashed potato with carrot & swede - great to get 'hidden' veg into the kids and so easy - I just bung some sausages on the George Foreman, and some frozen mash in the microwave and voila! Tea is done in no time!

I tend to snack on fruit and a few walnuts. By tea time I'm too exhausted for hassle so we have a packet of microwave rice with a flavoured chicken breast. They are 5 chicken breasts for £5 in Swansea market and there are so many flavours we never get bored. I also lately like to cook a batch of food for freezing on the weekend. Made a decent turkey chilli this week that's only 180 calories a serving. Let me know if you want the.recipe.0

I am ok with protein, yesterday i went over by -12 oopps :blushing: but need to increas carbs too. Omelettes with lots of veg sounds so yum! i'll look into that for sure. thanks Rosey
I love roasted peanuts and could easily eat a who packet of KP jumbo ones
I haven't been to the market for agessss, will have to have a look around. I like the flavoured chicken breast you can get..so yum! my hubby always gets heart from there ukkky, tried and could not eat it. We has a turkey curry a few weeks back, was lush and in some ways a little nicer than chicken.
Jamie, stir fry is lovely. normally we'd have black bean sauce or spicy tomato sauce. I can eat stir fry without meat though but my hubby has to have meat. so many different sauces and it is filling.
Tuna sounds good too. I am also a devil for cheese. I could eat cheese till the cow's came home and not think twice about it but since i have started dieting 6 weeks ago and not eating any apart from sprinkles on pasta dishes it has helped with the weight loss after all nearly 12lbs in 6 weeks is good for me :-) Thanks all, any more are welcome0 -

Ignore the protein value, you can't really go over MFP sets it far too low. Carbs are not great as your body converts them to sugar. Ihave porridge made with water with blueberries sstrawberries and banana mixed in and it keeps me full until lunch0
