Oops not gumm I mean gym!!0

i would make sure you are measuring your food first. if you are then give it another week and see what happens. also i seriously doubt you are in starvation mode as what most people thing of as as starvation mode does not exist.
Feel free to add me. i have had periods where i lost nothing and then out of nowhere i lose 7 lbs. (actually just happened this week)0 -
2 weeks isn't a long time. how much weight do you need to lose?0
-
I will take more care measuring but I do generally weigh everything! Hopefully ill loose 7 pounds out of nowhere too lol!0
-
I want to loose a couple of stone! 2 weeks isn't long but when your working hard and notbseeing results it is lol!0
-
Are you doing any weight/strength training?0
-
When i Started going to the gym and adjusting my diet 3 weeks ago, i didnt lose anything for 2 weeks, then the scale said last night i was down 3 lbs. i took my measurements again and i am down 2 inches. I just figured it take a little while for your body to adjust, I don't know.0

Doing high cardio and strength training! I have thought it might take my body a while to adjust then hopefully have a decent loss! Fingers crossed!0

i have noticed when i do strength training i retain water and gain muscle so that may effect the scale number.0

I am having the same problem. Let me know how it works out and I'll keep you posted.0

I'm at 1200 too. There could be a ton of factors.
1) PMS--bloat? With that--are you drinking as much water as you should (not the minimum, but enough for your weight)?
2) Exercise changes usually leave us with some extra initial weight.
3) Not measuring precisely. Are you using a digital scale for everything?
4) Tweak your macros a bit (carbs/protein/fat). I really didn't like MFP's default.0 -
Thanks everyone! Digital weight watchers scales very precise! Good thinking about the water and strength training that holds water! I think I'm going to reduce my carb in take on days I'm not excercising!0

Are you eating back your exercise calories?
1200 calories isn't a lot especially if you are exercising regularily0 -

What's your height and how much do you have to lose? Are you exercising, if so doing what?0 -
I would say 1200 cals is to low for you. What is your current weight, height??0

I am 5 ft 8 and weigh 182 pounds at the mo? Excercise doing mostly cardio and some strength training 3 times a week?0
-
Ps sometimes eat some excercise calories but not always? Should I be?0
-
I'm 5 ft and I'm on 1530 cals a day and losing...
You're not eating nearly enough, that's why your body is hanging on to everything.0 -
I would try eating 1,500 calories. I was eating 1,200, sometimes even less, calories for the longest time and wasn't seeing any results. You don't have to eat back your calories if you aren't hungry. Ever since I increased my calories to 1500 the pounds started to come off again.0

Read this it should answer most of you questions

Leptin levels crash after two weeks on low cal diet so the body no longer gets messages that its safe to release fat.
No movement on the scales means mix it up trick the body!
change type of exercise or exercise intensely a couple of times a week. Up calories by couple of hundred a few days a week anything under 1600 is a diet for most women any way.
Eat some of your exercise cals not all as they are an estimate.
Eat more of your exercise cals as you progress with your weight loss so that you can eat well once the weight is off
instead of having to be on a diet for the rest of your life or gain weight every time you eat more than a strict diet.
good luck!0 -

This sounds like good advice. 1500 and if your still hungry a little more. Change your goal to losing less per week and you'll get a higher calorie allowance. 1200 when exercising so much and at 5ft 8 is too low.

At your height and weight I would guesstimate that eating 1200 (even with some of your exercise calories added on) isn't enough for you to be losing weight on.
I personally would use the TDEE way to lose weight. This involves working out the amount of calories you use on a daily basis living your life, moving around, etc, then reducing that amount by whatever you choose, I have chose 20%. You can use this calculator to do it: http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/
You can choose from the settings whether you wish to include your exercise into the calculation or not. If you do include your exercise, DO NOT eat back your exercise calories. If you do you will be eating them twice over!
Reducing your TDEE by around 20% will give you a nice amount of calories to eat daily and shouldn't leave you feeling deprived or especially hungry.
Just to add, you will get a ton of contradicting advice on MFP. It's up to you to filter out what you think is of use to you, and if something sounds silly it probably is!
Good luck!!0 -

Based on your height, weight and age your BMR is 1648, this is what your body needs daily jus for your organs, brain and everything else to function. I plateaued so many times eating 1200 cals. U should try and eat above your BMR and do strength training 3 times per week.
Good luck :0)0 -

Yep totally agree with this as well. BMR is a minimum amount to live on, just to exist. People here will argue with this but it's all about the long game really. If you are happy to lose lean muscle mass and make maintenance difficult eating under your BMR is the way to go.0 -
everything you ever wanted to know about the evils of 1200 calories and details of what works and how to do it.

I'd skip the cardio unless you enjoy it. Strength training builds muscle which will burn fat/cals 24/7. Make sure you eat enough protien and try not to go more than 3 hours between meals/snacks.0
