So they are going to drop one of the first ever Olympic competitions to make room for something else... Ridiculous.
Ribbon Twirling obviously is much more of an Olympic sport to compare across nations. There are so many other choices that could have been made.

Really at a loss for words and just wanted to blow off some steam.
Also, I don't mean to offend any Ribbon Twirlers out there, just the first thing that came to mind.

    Horrible decision!

    It's one of the oldest sports around, I can't see them ever getting rid of it.

    Its a sad reality that the Olympics has turned into money grab versus looking to keep pace with tradition and international "friendly" competition.


    Its obvious wrestling was not a big draw and they want to turn to some rediculous competition to try to create buzz...motocross here we come

    This pretty much sums up modern thinking. Get rid of what's important and keep the fluff. Oh and the advertising.

    wow, that's sad. My twin sons have been wrestling since they were 5. I love watching wrestling and I'm not sure ribbon twirling is a good substitute for me either.

    Most ridiculous decision by the IOC ever. No sport teaches more life lessons than wrestling. This will have devastating impact for freestyle and greco wrestling, and will bleed over into folkstyle as well.

    It's a terrible decision. One of the original Olympic sports; original ancient Olympic sport!
