fitbit?

I am thinking aout getting the fitbit ultra...it is supposed to let you know how many calries you are burning a day. Has anyone else had any good results fom using a fitbit? I have recently started DDP yoga and i go to zumba and I am just stuck! Will this help me get out of my plateau or my rut or what the hell ever it is? I am so frustrated! Thanks!

    I just ordered the fitbit one.........I got it because I hear its a great motivator and that is what I need ...GOOD LUCK

    I'm not sure if a fitbit will help you out of your plateau....but I love mine! When I see those number of steps I think...,I can do more! It is a great way to keep track of calories burned, steps, miles, etc., so I like it for that. I've seemed to have lost the last 3 weeks since wearing it, so I guess it is getting me to move more!

    I love my fitbit, gives me a good solid estimate of what I burn during the day. But it is just a glorified pedometer, it won't track Zumba or any other actual exercise. It only tracks your walking. You will still need a HRM to track workouts.
  • i have my fitbit zip and it really encourages me to walk more - especially on my days off (im a nurse)

    i have seen a huge difference in my thighs in particular and my weight is coming down as well

    a worthwhile investment

    Correct it does tell you your daily burn but doesn't track your heart rate which is a much better estimate during peak times of activity therefore HRM is a better monitor of workouts. I'll have to look at the Ultra but my Fitbit One is worn 24/7 also, tracks sleep and is still just a glorified pedometer.

    It does not have an accurate count of calories burned because there is no way of detecting your heart rate (which is what a HRM does). It calculates your activity by your steps and mileage and what your body burns when not even doing anything (which is based on the info you put in when you registered your fitbit and whatever exercise you enter. :)

    I can't tell if it has a chest strap. You really want a HRM with a chest strap, it is way more accurate as the strap monitors your heart rate the whole time. Don't get me wrong, I love my Fitbit but don't want you to be disappointed when you find out it only tracks walking and sleep patterns. I also love my Polar FT4 HRM, it is great for when I do my actual workouts! Good luck!
