Not new, but looking for certain people

I have been on MFP for a long time, and I posted a topic a few weeks ago looking for new friends as I re-committed myself to this journey. Now, I sort of regret it as I've had to purge my friends list.

What I am looking for is people that are serious about working out, encouragement, and reaching their goals. What I am NOT interested in is people who post on their wall about "send girlfriend apps to my inbox" and treat this place like a dating site. If that's what you are into, then I hope you find what you are looking for. All I am asking is to find the same, no disrespect.

Some info, I am 32, divorced, NOT interested in dating at all right now, I have 3 kids who are 9, 7 & 3 that live with me full time. Myself and the older two are in taekwondo. I am a yellow belt and they have their green stripes. I do Insanity on the days off from TKD. I am also learning how to eat better, being brought up in Cajun country, everything is fried topped with gravy so this has been somewhat of a challenge.

I am also a college student majoring in Finance.

Thanks for reading.

Again, no disrespect to others that see things differently from myself, I just know what I want out of this.

Good Luck with your request. You can always add and delete...if someone gets on my nerves, that's what I do. No need to make a Judgey McJudgerson thread about how other people use the site.
  • AH!
    I do Tang Soo Do!
    :D

Sorry I got really excited when I read that you did TKD. Feel free to add me, if you want.
I'm a 20 yr old college student (International Business major with a Chinese Language minor). I live at home with my parents and younger brother. I've been waiting to lose weight for a long time. Got serious about it last year, but injured my ankle in October, causing me to gain half of it back before I got back on my feet (haha) to figure out what I could do to help. I'm on this site several times a day.
  • Hi I have dedicated myself to lose for a year now. I have lost over one hundred pounds. I try swimming an hour a day seven days a week. Water aerobics twice a week and Weights 3 times a week. The first time in my life I have time to get back in shape. My mind was made up to Exercise and Eat the right foods (fruits, Vegetables, White Meat and Fish).Last week I picked up Horseback Riding twice a week. I can say this if you fall off the Wagon. Stop and say did I really need that and start over and get your mind right. Good luck I still have 30lbs to go

Hello! Please feel free to add me if you like. I too am very serious regarding my goals. I would be happy to offer plenty of encouragement. I say we buckle down and get this done! Also from the south and know what you mean about the food. When the thought of something fried comes across my mind I replace it with the thought of how bad I feel after eating it. Fried foods taste wonderful, however, they always make me feel sick afterwards and dissapointed in myself,

Hello, I sent a request, I too am very serious about wanting to reach my goal, and feel that doing it alone is boring, but it also eliminates a very important factor... accountability.. Everyone else who is serious about reaching goals as well as being motivating, but that doesn't mean you can't have fun on here of course, feel free to add, I have a LONG way to reach my goals, and I plan on getting there...

I agree 100% with not wanting the dating shananigans on my page. I am a mother of a 2 month old, I have been engaged for a little over a year now, I am currently a stay at home mom and I am looking to lose 100 pounds. (96 to go). I want to get to 144 pounds!

Good luck, add me as a friend if you'd like.

Good post.., I didn't know any such things were going on but might I suggest a less revealing profile pic so you don't attract the unwanted attention?
    Wishing you success .

I'm 100% commited to this journey. Food, workouts the whole nine yards and I'm very active on MFP. I'm 30 and married, no kids yet. Feel free to add me!
  • Hi! I am new to this site and am serious about working out! I am actually taking a 9 week certification class to get my certified personal trainer as well as a nutrition fitness specialist! I am also a nursing student working towards my ph.D. You'd wonder how someone like me can be 50+ pounds overweight :( that's why I am looking for friends too that are SERIOUS and will help motivate me! Please add me so we can motivate each other!!
  • I'm also recommitting in a big way -- add me!

Most of my workouts involve boxing/kickboxing, but I would love more encouragement to branch out a little. Ditto on eating, especially weekends and late nights studying. I'm a grad student who works a bunch of jobs, so stress level gets high.

    Good luck!

No need to be a Preachy McPreacherson about how some Judgey McJudgerson likes to use this site.

J/k, I liked the Judgey McJudgerson and wanted to participate.

    I guess I am a Nosey McNoserson?

    Hey,

21 year old student, studying in Japan at the moment (Finance, Japanese and International Business) by from Australia :)

I am becoming very into my health - not so much the weight aspect (I am in a healthy range, though would like a bit more tone of course) but rather what I eat. I calorie track and make sure to keep up my protein (no red meat) and stay as healthy as possible for the future :) If you want health advice for eating well or some good exercises (did have a gym junkie phase) I'd be really interested to be your friend! I know I am *young* but I do a lot of reading about my health, anti-ageing etc so I'm quite well read and informative :)

So add away if you would like! Motivation is so good, I give/need it and am online a few times a day

    Cheers

Hi! I'm def serious about encouragement! I've gotten my eating back under control most days, but need to get more serious about working out. I also have kiddos that are 9 and 7. Would love it if you would add me as a friend! :) I had the same issue that people just want to make it a social thing, or become friends on here then never put effort into encouraging or responding etc. DRIVES ME NUTS!! Anyone else on this thread that wants to add me, feel free! :)

    Very serious person here.
I got annoyed by a fellow male who not only treated this site like his personal Craigslist hookup site, but also seemed to believe that he was doing women a "favor" by being on this site, so I deleted him as a friend.

You'll get nothing but words of encouragement from this guy..........my wife has some kind of objection with me carrying on with other women, whether it be in person or over the internet (imagine the nerve of her..........she has some weird obsession with monogamy and faithfulness).
  • Well said! Feel free to add me!

One of the things that's keeps this whole mfp experience interesting and fun is giving and receiving support, anyone welcome to add me if this is what you're into x
