Body Pump and Body Combat

I note that these two popular classes are not available as cardio options and was unsure of the best way to accurately add them myself without misleading other users.

Many exercise forums say that a 60 minute Body bump class can burn up to 600 calories but wouldn’t that depend on the weight of the person taking the class or is it simply 10 calories per minute across the board?

Similarly a Body combat class of 60 minutes burns an average of 737 calories so is that 12 calories per minute?

I would log them as 250 calories for bodypump and 350-400 calories for body combat if I gave it my best shot. I think some of those calorie etimates are over exaggerated. As I am a female and probably weigh less then you then my calorie burn for these classes is going to be a lot lower then for you.

I have the same problem. As of now, I just enter Body Pump as "Aerobics, General" which is about 413 calories for my weight. I doubt that I burn upwards of 650-700, but I do sweat a lot during the class - so 413 is pretty accurate for me.

I wish there was an option to enter the class in strength because I use the class as my strength training. Can't figure out how to do it to be accurate in the strength database.

I do both of these classes & whilst doing them I am wearing a Heart Rate Monitor, because as you have said - it depends on your height, weight and how much effort you put in!

I am 5'5", female, 128 lbs, high effort at each class

My average burn in Body Pump: 60 minutes - 350 calories
My average burn in Body Combat: 60 minutes - 460 calories.

But everyone is different. Buy your own HRM & set your own personal settings & you'll get more accurate results.

Thanks for the feedback; it’s always better to error on the side of caution and under log calorie burn than over estimate. I am 6ft tall with a lot of weight to loose and I sweat like a turkey at Christmas.

Taking on board your feedback I will log 400 calories for Body Pump and 500 for Combat.

If you don't have an HRM I would log it as either circuit training or calisthenics.

I am currently training to Teach similar class...Group Power....and if you have a HRM( Heart Rate Monitor) you can personalize your logging(My exercise) and log it with the calories your watch give you....Per height, weight, you calories burn will always be different from anyone else....Good luck!

I take Body Attack regularly and average 500-600 calorie burn, per my HRM. (I'm 43, 5' 5" and 158lbs)

Hello, I regularly teach BODYPUMP and BODYCOMBAT here are my rating from my HRM

    200lb Male 6'2"
    BODYPUMP 560kcals
    BODYCOMBAT 677kcals

Don't know if that helps you any, but hopefully it does. I usually log my workouts on MFP right around 550 for PUMP and 650 for COMBAT to guess underneath. I have gotten as high as 800kcal but I prefer to just keep it on the low side.
