30 Day Shred - Will it work?

Hey, I have 8lbs to lose or even to just turn some fat to muscle to "look" like I lost 8lbs. Will Jillians Michaels 30day Shred do that for me? I plan to follow it strictly while watching my meal plan closely as well. Let me know what yas think. Ty

    Well....first off, you aren't going to turn fat into muscle. That just doesn't happen.
    You can lose fat and you can strengthen and gain muscle....they are two different things.

    The 30 Day shred video is a decent one...I did it. I guess it's possible to lose 8 lbs in 1 month, but it's doubtful...depending on how much you have to lose.

    Search for 30 Day Shred on the message boards - there are many 30DS success story posts.

    Also - agree with what sarahstrezo about what she said.

    Okay thanks. I only have 8lbs to lose - that's it and I'm done and moving on to maintenance. Just want to lose 8lbs or "look" 8lbs lighter and have a better looking belly. I'm good with my arms and legs and bum. But, I will take better than better if it happens. lol.

    I can't seem to find any results for people like me! Just need to lose 8lbs, and tighten up! Is anybody out there like that? If so, did Jillian Michaels at least get you half way there in 30 days????

    Hi,
    I've lost 8 lbs and have 8 to go. I am doing the shred to tighten up. I am on day 13, spent 10 days on level 1 and am now on 2. I have noticed my abs getting flatter and tighter, and my 9 year old son actually noticed when we were at the pool, so I guess it's true. I also think it has been very good for my arms, bum, and endurance.
    That said, I don't know where you were starting from. I was getting no other exercise except for walking when I started the shred. If you are already pretty fit I don't know if it will work as well for you.
    Also, using the MFP database, I only burn 146 cals doing the shred, so if you are looking for massive caloried burn, this isn't the place.
    I am really happy with my results so far, but there are so many variables it's hard to know whether it will work similarly for you.

    K thanks. Just did Jillian Michael 30DS Level 1 - Am I supposed to do this Level everyday (the exact same workout) for the next 7,15, 21 or 30 days? or what? I am just using the videos on Youtube to do this so....

    How long did it take you to lose 8lbs with Jillian Michaels? or did you lose that walking and ur gonna try to lose the last 8lb with Ms Michaels? Thanks

    Oh yeah, I did the work out tonight too without realizing I needed weights before I started. I only have 25lbs dumbbells! EFFF THAT! OMFG! that would so kill me... I want to get some 5lbers.
  • I did 30DS back in July/August before my dress fitting for my wedding. It helped toned me & I think I lost about 5 pounds by doing each move completely & thoroughly.

    I really liked this DVD & plan to do it again soon. I think it was so fast-paced at times that I hardly noticed the time.

    Yes, do the complete level 1 for 10 days, then move onto level 2 for 10 days, then level 3 for 10 days, then complete!!! I'm on day 11 (Day 1 of level 2)! I can't say that I've noticed any weight loss (been having poor eating habits the last few days too so maybe that's why) and I haven't noticed anything getting any tighter... But I did take some before pictures and will take them again on day 15 and day 30. I suggest taking before and after pictures or taking measurements so you can keep track of your progress if the numbers on the scale don't seem to want to move in the right direction... And it is possible to lose 8 pounds in 1 month... I lost 7.4 in all of January (and that was without the 30DS.) Good luck! :wink:

    Honestly I lost the first 8 by staying within my calories. Being able to add exercise calories helped me do that so the walking helped. I am not really looking for the 30 DS to add to lbs lost, but to muscles toned. However, anything that adds a calorie deficit helps.

    Be SURE to keep careful watch to your form - especially to the squats. If you don't you can hurt your knees, and also it will not work your butt like it will if you are squatting correctly.
