    I vote "waste of money".
    Avoid gimmicks. Reduce your calorie intake and look up the StrongLifts 5x5 program.

    Fat loss is done in the kitchen. Check your calorie intake, reduce 500 per day and you will lose 1lb per week.

    Gym work will recomp your body while your diet and give your metabolism a boost.

    ANY training program will produce results in the first 12-15 weeks if you are new to exercises especially weight training as these programs are designed to capture beginner gains.

    After the 15 weeks time scale you don't see any adverts stating incredible things will happen if you follow it.... Same crap the quacks did and we are all still falling for the sales pitches...

    Other then $20.00 a month for a gym membership and some of the normal accessories to help with my workout, I haven't spent money on my weight loss.

    These are the things I have:

    * Weight lifting gloves are a must for me. I lift heavy sometimes and after 2 years I have calluses on my palms under my fingers. I know, its not hot on a girl. Gloves help with that and help you grip weights better.

    * An Ipod or mp3 player with cool songs or a tv show to watch while you work out

    * Headphones/earbuds and a armband to hold them

    * Water bottle

    *Good sneakers. Trust me, its worth the money but make sure they stay gym shoes and dont wear them all the time. They will last much longer

    * For home, I download free VOD stuff off my direct TV for workout videos, I also have 3lb weights, and I heard having one of those elastic bands are helpful too.

    * This isn't necessary but I feel like an HRM is vital to weight loss. We are so concerned about counting every calorie we eat but we are so lax about counting the ones we burn. The machines and MFP estimates are usually way off.

    A helpful trick is use you BMR or TDEE (I use my BMR od 1718)as your daily calorie goal then create a deficit from that. That way at the end of the week you can see how "In the green" you are and how much weight you should have lost. A calories is never just a calorie but the general rule is there is 3500 calories in a pound of fat. That means you need a deficit of -3500 calories to lose a pound a week. And that means you need to burn 500 calories a day, 7 days a week.
