I tried something new at the gym today. The stationary bike. I usually do an elliptical machine(cybex) and I typically burn 550-750 cals an hour. I am usually pretty tired after a work out on the cybex. I used the bike today and I was not winded/tired AT ALL. The machine said I was burning 750 cals an hour so in 10 minutes I burnt 110 cals or so. My legs did not burn at all and there was little resistance.I find this really hard to believe and feel like I;m cheating by adding it into my extra calories for the day. The Machine looks brand new and it has a little track so you can see how far you've gone. What do you think? Do you think it's accurate?

Was it measuring your heart rate?0

No, it was calories...0

I know but calories burned is affected by your heart rate, so some machines have metal handles that you hold which measure the heart rate and then calculate how many calories were burned as a result.
If the machine doesn't do that, then the calories burned is an estimate based on averages so you can't necessarily believe it.0
