Strong Lifts?!

I keep seeing people referencing strong lifts? I'm getting back into the weight lifting routine, I want to do it right, and do strong lifts in between my body pump and other cardio days, can anybody send me a link?

I keep reading people say it's free but when I go to the site it wants you to buy something?

I downloaded the app to keep exploring? Anyone have any tips before I start? I am a beginner, looking for any type of advice.

My goals are to build muscle as I lose weight, but also to aid in the weight loss. I have about 50lbs to go.

Thanks!!

Stronglifts (http://stronglifts.com/stronglifts-5x5-beginner-strength-training-program/ - pretty sure it is free, or at least it was when I downloaded it) is good, as is Starting Strength (a book that walks you through not only the work out program but also the reasoning behind everything you're doing).

The base program is free, but you will get all sorts of emails trying to get you to buy something. He has to make a living somehow.

It's not too bad with the marketing. You can unsubscribe from the emails. It's a good, solid base program that will help you achieve your fat loss/muscle building goals. The writing sure makes it sound like it's geared towards men, but the same basic principles apply to everyone. I know there are some women here on mfp that were doing the program.

There's also a group here on mfp you could join. Probably a good idea

Yep. The group is great. It had a great sticky that outlines the program for you. I do stronglifts and have been since December. I've seen great progress in myself! I'm really happy with the program.

Join the group StrongLifts 5x5 for women and you will find a lot of information there. There are a lot of us who do that program and love it.

I'm currently in week 11 and will be doing another cycle of it. A word of caution though, you really should not do other weights in conjunction with SL. At the beginning when your weights are on the lighter side it's not so much of an issue but as you progress your body really does need the recovery time.

The app is the program minus some information on stalls, warm-up sets, etc. I didn't have to subscribe to anything and was able to get the program but there is a sticky in the group that will give you a Cliff's Notes version.

I like it. You don't need to worry about the website or marketing... you don't even need to go to the website. All you need to know is workout A is: Squats, bench press, and row, and workout B is: Squats, overhead press and deadlift. all 5x5 except deadlift is 1x5. End of story.

Not if you use correct form. Is there a trainer who can help you with that at your gym? If not....you can always look up proper form for those lifts.
