For those of you who ride mountain bikes or street bikes ( I do both) do you have bigger quads? All my friends have these monster thighs and I got the huge calves and small thighs.

Is there something I could be doing wrong? I have been riding for about 15-20 years . When I especially go mountain biking my thighs burn a lot and are very sore. My calves have all my friends beat by a little but my upper thigh is on average 6" smaller than theirs so something isn't right.

I ride a road bike and I've got the big calves too...

It stinks because boots are too little!

I MTB race and some of these guys I race against have thighs the size of me! I feel it plays as a huge disadvantage for me.

I ride road and though I have strong muscular calves, they aren't particularly large. It does really work your quads, for me more so than my calves. But neither look large on me. I suspect you have some genetics involved.

You might have someone take a look at your stroke to see why your quads aren't developing commensurate with your calves.

Hard to say because while I street bike, it isn't the only exercise I do. I have very well developed calves and thighs, but I've always had them since I danced ballet from age 3 to 17.

I have a "hybrid" or "fitness" bike or whatever. I've been riding again for about 9 months. My legs are stronger, but my thighs are unfortunately fairly thin.
