I heard Dr. Ian talking about doing HIIT this way. He says do a 2 mo=in warm up, CRANK IT UP for 2 mins, slow it back down then repeat!0 -
Any HIIT I do, i use the same protocol. It's based on a program called the Sprint 8 by Trainer Phil Campbell:
3 minute warmup
8 intervals of 30 seconds all out and 90 seconds rest
2.5 minute cooldown.
Total 20 minutes
I do this running, biking or elliptical.0 -
By "rest", do mean stop or just ease back to an easy pace?Any HIIT I do, i use the same protocol. It's based on a program called the Elite 8:

So I should do 2 minutes of warm up
2 Minute at resistance 8
3 minute at 4
Back up to 8 resistance and keep repeating for 30 minutes and then a 5 minute cool down.
Does this sound right. Or anything I should change.0 -
Don't overthink this....go at a "reasonable" pace to warm up for a couple minutes, increase it either speed, incline, both...just make it harder..for a couple minutes, repeat, repeat, back down, back up, go like hell...back down...do this for 20 minutes. Done!0

Ease back to a recovery pace. For example, on the recumbent bike, I warm up at 11, do my peak intervals at 13 or 14 and my rest intervals at 9. I actually had the name of the program incorrect. It's the Sprint 8 and the trainer who came up with it is Phil Campbell.0 -
So do the warm up
11 for 2 minutes
to 8 for 1 minutes
Repeat for 30 minutes0 -
I'm currently doing this as I sprained my ankle a few weeks back and still cant sprint on a treadmill. I do 3x30 secs sprints interset with either: bodyweight exercises for time or reps or weighted exercises for time or reps. For example, Monday was 30 secs sprint, 10x30kg squats and 10x30kg rows, 3 rounds.0
