Does anyone have the fitbit scales?

I already have a fitbit (have for the last 6 months) and I can not live without it! I love it! I see there's some fitbit scales... Tbh o already have good scales that also give body fat percentage (I know isn't totally accurate, but I use this function to track progress)

If the fitbit scales are really fantastic though, I'd look at getting them anyway. Are they good? Don't they sync up with your fitbit and nfp account? Any other useful pointers on why they're worth getting? (or not worth getting)

Thanks!

I saw fitbit advertised in a local store today - I was kind of excited - because I've been thinking of getting it but I'd have to send away. Which fitbit device do you have? I might hold off until they stock the newest fitbit they're about to release in march.

I've got the fitbit ultra, they only had one type out at the time I bought mine i think . They're so great though. I love it mainly because 1) it motivates me to take 10,000 steps a day and 2) it gives me an accurate calorie burn each day. I set my level to sedentary on Mfp (even though I'm more active than that) and then fitbit sends through a "calorie adjustment" for all the extra calories I burned by walking around during the day that I wouldn't log as exercise. Much more accurate than guessing if you are sedentary, lightly active or moderately active and so on.

    You should definitely get one!

i have the fitbit Aria scale. It is a nice scale, and nice that it syncs to the fitbit account. it doesn't come over into the mfp site, so I was disappointed in that, I thought that since it synced with the fitbit site the weight would come over also. It was a pain to setup, never could get the wireless setup to work on my computer, but it worked fine using my ipad, so you might consider that in your decision. It is quite expensive. It is cheaper than the Withings scale, which is also a wifi enabled scale. Here is a head to head of the two: http://www.redferret.net/?p=34535

I have since started using a bodymedia fit instead of the fitbit.

I never had the problem they talk about with the feeling the scale wasn't accurate. I would buy it again, but really wish that it integrated with mfp.

  • Yes and I love love love it.

My weight from the Aria is reflected on MFP. I love that feature; it shows up pretty much immediately. The set up was difficult; I think the instructions were not specific enough. I couldn't use the wifi at my house so I ended up doing it through my S3. It still took me a while to figure it out, because I thought the instructions were telling me to start the installation with the smartphone and then go back to the PC. But once you start using the phone or tablet everthing should be done through there...not the PC. Once I figured that out it took like 5 minutes. But I had wasted well over an hour. I wouldn't even recommend trying to do it from your home's wifi. I had the stupid scale sitting practically right on my router and it couldn't find it. lol

    I do!
And I love love love them! Weight automatically plugged into Fitbit site and MFP.

There's also a really good site called Trendweight which can also automatically pulled the data from Fitbit. It uses an algorithm to smooth out the peaks and troughs and show you the more general Trend of your weight and body fat. The problem with the Aria is it is quite easy to get emotional over every oz, the Trendweight site puts all the data into a much more meaningful and useful format.
