New - Why are the last 10lbs so hard?

I had a baby last Feb, and now that the 1 year mark is creeping up, I am finally motivated to get off my butt and get rid of the last 10lbs of baby weight.
I am 34yo, 5'2 and currently 134lbs. My goal weight is 125, which was where I was pre-baby and it was easy to maintain just with diet.
I am currently doing the elliptical everyday for 25 minutes. I just started doing some light weights today. I'm also trying to adhere to a 1200 calorie diet, and drink plenty of water.
I've been doing this for 2 weeks and have only dropped one pound. It's not super motivating, so just looking for any advice, or suggestions. Am I doing something wrong?

With a mere 10 Lbs to go, you should be going very slow...like .5 Lbs per week slow. With only 10 Lbs to lose, your body isn't going to respond well to such a large deficit and ultimately you're going to burn up a lot of lean body mass being that aggressive.0

So youre doing more exercise and only eating 1200 calories? If you're lifting you're going to build muscle...well not with 1200 calories. Time to rethink your plan.0

I totally am with you on the last 10 lbs being the hardest. But also realize that you had a baby and your body is different now. You may look so much better even with that last 10 lbs on depending on how your body has shifted.0

A few reasons...
1) as people get closer to their goal, their motivation drops as there isn't such a pressing need to keep going, so they don't work as hard.
2) it takes longer and people are impatient, especially after having seen success previously
3) there's less room for error so it puts more emphasis on doing it right and really nailing your calories/estimates.0 -
I'm just starting light weights, like 5lbs each arm. I'm pretty out of shape. I honesty don't know how many calories I should eat each day and still manage to lose weight???
dnhardy, I carry extra weight in my low back area. so I look more stocky than fat. Some of it has shifted to my tummy too after having my daughter.
10lbs means 2 clothing sizes on a short person like myself. So really, my goal is just to be able to wear my old clothes again.0 -
I am also 5"2" and 134lbs and yes the last 10 is hard but just keep workin hard and don't give up. also like others have said make sure you are eating enough. 1200 is kinda low but you need to find out what cals work for you. try sticking to a certain amount of cals for about 10 days and see what that does if it doesnt change anything then make an adjustment on cals and do that amout for about 10 days. weightloss is kinda like a game at time where you have to play around with things and see where you need to be to get it workin for you.0

I am also doing the 1200 calorie diet plan and using an elliptical at home but I have a job where I sit all day long so I downloaded this app for my iphone called striiv it will sync with your iphone its really just a pedometer but I like it because it automatically factors my calories burned into my fitness pal and when I see that I haven t walked much on some days it motivates me to atleast get up and walk in place Im averaging atleast 2 miles a day at work since I downloaded it0
