Fit not flabby!

On my 29th birthday I decided that I was going to lose my excess weight by the time I was 30. On my 30th I managed to be heavier than the year before. Its been three months since that milestone and I have decided enough is enough. I longer want to "start monday" or "start this year" or "after the holidays" It has to be now or never. I signed up for my first 5k which is 6months from now. I really hoped that would motivate me enough. I have wanted to run a 5K before, but really never told anyone. This time I'm telling everyone my plans so they can keep me accountable and on the right track! So far I am almost done with my 4th week of the couch to 5k program. I really enjoy working out and going to the gym and i love all the healthy food I've been eating, but I fear, like I have before, that I won't keep it up and will be in the same boat next year. I'm not going to let that become my self profiling prophesy, I'm going to be fit and healthy for my 31st and even more for my 32nd birthday!

Fitness happens one day at a time. This is a great website for support and lots of good ideas. You go girl and good luck. Sounds like you have the resolve to make it happen. Don't be afraid to tell people, it will help you stay true to your commitment.
I started running again at 40 after a couple decade reprieve and I thought I was having a heart attack after a mile. I ran distance in HS and you're always 18 in your head. Dr said I was ok just out of shape after my stress test. 18 mos later I finished my first marathon in under 4 hrs. Start out doing less than you think you can. Start reading books from the library and get fitted at a running store for the proper shoes (extremely important). You will be surprised how quickly you are running 3 miles easily. It will be very difficult for several weeks but you'll notice yourself getting stronger every week. Oh yeah, I lost 30 lbs in the process too.

    Best wishes.

Good for you hun! Thats an awesome goal. I am just about to turn 42 and was supposed to be done with this weight loss gig by now,,, but here I am, still plugging away.
I do alot of exercise and started running early last year, its been the hardest thing I've ever done, but so rewarding!
I have signed up for a half marathon in September to get me motivated, but I regularly do 10km fun runs.
Anyone who is looking for support can add me :D
