DO I ALWAYS HAVE TO WORKOUT THIS HARD?!

I'm just curious if this is what my life is going to consist of, counting calories, working out, does it ever end? Just a little? Is it going to get easier? I know I need to work out and eat healthy to live the best life possible but this is tough stuff, it's fine to work out but I weigh 160 and am 5'3" I still have about 30 pounds to lose, it's really not coming off as fast as I had planned. Can anyone give me any insight to the maintainance of weight?

:flowerforyou: The more you workout and pay attention to healthy eating, the more your body will love it and it won't seem like "have to" it will become "want to"
Would you buy a sports car and never drive it fast and never give it good fuel and take care of it? the same is true of your body.......feed it well and exercise it and care of it and it will work better and last a lot longer.0 -

The time is going to go by anyway, so why not have it go by knowing your doing what is right for your body? who cares how fast it comes off, your getting healthy and fit all at the same time!
I have been doing this since DEC 29th 2008. Count every calorie in and out ,workout 5 times a week for up to 2 hours a day, do I have to do this when I get to goal weight? maybe not workout 2 hours a day, maybe just one, but I plan on still logging all my foods ,it keeps me honest. You have to look at this as a lifestyle change and not a diet, you wont be successful in the long run if its a diet for you.
Good luck!0 -
"This too shall pass". I've only been at this since Christmas 2009 and have lost 5lbs. I have a LONG way to go. But, as the other poster said, the time is going to go by anyway, I might as well make the most of it. It feels great to know that I am taking care of my body and actually paying attention to what goes into it. At some point, the maintenance weight will arrive and I will have lots of practice with proper diet, portion control, and exercise to maintain.
Hang in there and good luck. It will get easier. Stay positive no matter what!!!0 -
from your photo i see you dont look bad at 160 at all. you may have gain muscle in your process causing you to way more than you look. It's easy to give up and just eat cookies but you appreciate the hard things in life. maybe you should look up how much calories you can have to sustain 130 lb. maybe your intake will increase since you have it set to lose weight. dont give up, you started for a reason and your only gonna kick yourself in the butt if you go back.0

Just remember to treat yourself every once in a while, it's okay! Also what I do is find a recreational activity that you will get enjoyment out of, it helps a lot. For example, hiking, tennis, racket ball etc.... substituting these for your daily boring workout routine might spice it up a little : )0

As someone who has hit their goal weight let me say that Barbiecat's quote is 100% spot on!
I have nothing left to lose and although the journey was hard (especially the last 10lb) it has also been fasinating and an amazing voyage of discovery about me and my body.
I have nothing to prove but this has always been a lifestyle change for me and that mindset has set firmly in place. I actually ENJOY running 10k a night and eating healthy. I never, ever want to go back to how I was and I've spent so many months looking after my body and what I eat that I no longer long or crave for any food I used to eat. Saying no to that burger and yes to that salad is second nature now and it is a lovely place to be
Seriously once you hit your goal and you buy the clothes size you always want to, or you look in the mirror and like what you see, you will never want to go back.
If you need motivation please add me as a friend if you want to :drinker:0 -
Thanks for the encouragement everyone! Lots of encouraging words in your comments..I think the one that will stay with me is the one from tamishumati " The time is going to go by anyway so why not have it go by knowing your doing what is right for your body" That makes so much sense! Thanks so much and Good luck to you all!0
