Oily hair

Hello!

So, I've started working out since around December pretty regularly (about 4-5 times a week)..since I have started working out my hair has slowly started to get oily-er and oily-er. Today was the breaking point for me..I styled my hair, went to work, and then noticed my hair still looked 'wet'..even though it was dry!! what?!? I put it up so hopefully noone would notice (I asked a friend and she said it even looked greasy).

I've tried changing shampoo, tried the clairfiying shampoo, tried tea tree oil...it is not helping. Today I went to CVS and found the only bottle that said 'for normal to oily' hair. not sure yet..I don't condition..haven't in years (tends to make hair oilier !) I do blow dry my hair during the week....and I don't put product in my hair except on the tips (I stopped the past couple of days because of the oilyness of the hair..yuck!)

So..what do I do? Is all the sweating changing my hair? :(

Any help fixing this would be great!! I have fine thin hair..:(

  • Never heard of this before! Are you using a heavy conditioner? Best thing I can think of is maybe wash your hair with bar soap. If that doesn't work maybe the PH of dish soap would be strong enough? I wouldn't recommend this as a long term solution. It just wouldn't be good for your skin. But as a quick fix, then maybe see a dermatologist. Hope it works out!

have no fear! i'm a self-proclaimed hair guru. how often do you wash your hair? how often do you use conditioner? you really need to wash your hair daily/every other day if your scalp has a lot of natural moisture (oil). use an ammonia free shampoo and really work it into the root, also ONLY apply a small amount of conditioner to the ENDS of your hair- not the scalp! blow-dry your hair as soon as you shower, it will help! avoid running your hands though it as well seeing as your hands have natural oils.

    1) stop using mainstream shampoo and conditioner.
    2) if you don't want to pay all that.moolahh for it sallys has generic of shampoos and.conditioners that are the exact same as brands like paul Mitchel, chi and ext.
    3) go let a professional analyze your hair and tell them what's going on, I'd tell you but i don't have my other book with all my notes with me.

P.s over washing your hair causes more harm then good.. I go to cosmetology school by the way.

You could try using a dry shampoo.
Try scrubbing your scalp with sugar, while you shampoo.
Are you using Tea Tree Oil? Or Tea Tree Oil Shampoo there's a HUGE difference. Try using 100% pure Tea Tree Essential Oil on your scalp. Just a tiny bit it goes a long way.
    Are you using heavy conditioner?
Are you putting conditioner on your roots?
Was there a diet change, hormonal change, or weather change by you? I know mine gets all weird during changes like this.
Try an Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse - http://youtu.be/q9Zgdj8505A

I get my products from Sally's. I use Beyond the Zone Smooth Criminal and Rock On. They have several " dry", baby powder type shampoos in that brand!
