Any nurses???

Nursing is such a wonderful career but also very demanding both emotionally and physically. Looking to add other nurses in there journey and lifestyle change.

I am a Hospice nurse who works in a in patitent unit. Love my job but work long hours which means exercise and dieting is hard. Many people thank us with loves of unhealthy food. UGH

We started the biggest loser at work but it really isn't a support system as much as a competition.

Hi. I've been a nurse for 5+ years. I started in med/surg and now work from home for a physician advisory group. I've been using MFP since December and I've lost 16 pounds so far. Add me if you like.

I am not a nurse but I am an application specialist who has worked the medical field for 16 years now. I loved working in the OR and now I am in Radiology and I have to admit everything stems around food. I would love to join the support group if you don't mind a non clinical friend. I don't know how big your facility is but I know when I worked OR my facility was four floors, I used to start on the east wing walking down all the stairs, across the basement, up the west wing stairs, across the peds and med surg units, back down the east wing and to the center of the second floor. Is that something possible for you to do on a break? Maybe lunch? Just a suggestion...I am limited now so my walking a severly diminished :(

:drinker: Retired Nurse, but doing Private Duty Home Health. Does that count?
I worked for almost 20 years mostly in Nursing Homes.

I have been a nurse for 37 years. I started in ICUS, then taught in nursing school, then found home are. I love home care but again exercise and eating becomes a problem, particularly with driving, on call responsibilities. Right now, I am on medical leave (I broke my right foot while exercising) but hope to return in a few weeks. Feel free to add me to your list.

21 years of nursing here...the last 13 in the ED. Not sure how that can be as I'm only 25:) Those weekend potlucks can be damaging!

My son is a nurse. He works ICU and loves it. He wants to be a flight nurse. I'm not a nurse but I am a special Ed teacher with some medically fragile students. You can add me if you'd like, but I don't really fit the profile. I do however have a great respect for nurses! And I'm on here everyday. Good luck!

I'm an ICU nurse, night shift. There are ALWAYS cookies/candies lying around and it is so hard to resist! Although I do occasionally give in and eat some...I can usually hold out! Just bring LOTS of healthy snacks to work, and keep something quick/easy (like a protein bar) in your locker for those nights when you don't have time to eat!! I usually go to the gym after work, then go home and go to bed!

I've last 16lbs in a little over a month - so you can do it!!

Hi I'm an Oncology PCU nurse. I just started MFP. I had twins one year ago and lost all the weight while breastfeeding but the babies weaned 2 months ago and I put on 10 pounds. My goal is to lose the 10 and maybe 5 more :). Nursing is amazing - but I agree the hours, stress and emotional and physical toll can really mess with my diet and health.

How do you ladies manage on nights? I'm on nights now for three weeks and it's screwing up when and what I eat, I always feel tired and rubbish.

Hi there! I've been a nurse for about 7 years, and am currently working in med/surg. Add me if you like! I know it's terribly hard to avoid all the bad food choices with our lifestyle....where I work, there is always a HUGE basket of candy and chocolate right under my nose not to mention the stuff people bring in to munch on! GAH! Working nights is also a challenge. I find myself forgetting to eat, or not being sure how to manage my meals so that I can measure my daily caloric intake. I'm not sure why it's so difficult, but it is heh :ohwell:

I am NOT a nurse BUT! I wanted to say "Thank you" to all of you who are/have been/want to be. I'm a radiology technologist and if it wasn't for you amazing people I would go nuts. :) So.. Thank you for all that you do and keep it up!

I'm set to graduate nursing school next May. The stress makes me want to eat all of the things!

Hello, I am nurse, too. I have been practicing for 10 years and yes you're right, it is hard to implement a decent workout routine into our busy schedules. Throughout the years though, I have come to the realization that persistence and perseverance do pay in the long run. Based on my experience, I have implemented my workout routine before my shift as opposed to going to workout after work and yes!, at first it was quite difficult but now I have been feeling great! At the end of the day, I still have energy to do more things and now I feel like I can't wait for the next day! I am a fitness fanatic and currently doing the GSP rushfit which is a MMA-styled workout and so far I like my results! I have added MFP into this routine and it has been working great for me. At 45, I really can't complain!
Good luck in whatever you do, but remember, if you want it as bad as you did when you were going through nursing school (I am sure you did) then you will see end results. Guaranteed.
