MFP people, I need your help...

Like probably quite a few of you out there, one of the things I'm trying to closely monitor is my salt/sodium level to try to help avoid the dreaded high blood pressure amongst other things, but the food database in MFP is in (from my experience) a shocking state for sodium entries...

It's either missing from foods, or incorrectly entered - sometime the salt amount has been put in, sometimes the value in grams entered as the milligram value.

So here's where I need your help, next time you add a food to your diary picked from the database (or add a new one yourself) check the mg of sodium value, and if it needs it, correct it, it's a fairly simple calculation.

Grabbed off the web conversion:

milligrams of sodium multiplied by 2.5 = milligrams of salt
Milligrams of salt divided by 2.5 = milligrams of sodium

For example 200mg of sodium equates to 500milligrams or 0.5 grams of salt ( 200mg x2.5=500mg salt or 0.5grams)

To convert milligrams of salt to milligrams of sodium divide salt contents by 2.5.

It's for the greater good....

Cheers all.
