Weight Training Advice?

I've recently decided to overcome my aversion for the weight room, but after (I think) overloading on too much information from the internet I'm pretty stumped!
Are there any basic guidelines for a beginner? Like how many reps should I be working towards or something like....how long shouldi be in there? Should I eat real food afterwards or something like chocolate milk? I would appreciate any advice!

A very basic beginner program from me would target 1 set of 10 reps (avg) of exercise for each body part. You choose the exercises.
Eat when you're hungry, but get a decent amount of protein since that's the only macro that rebuilds muscle.

This. Another good one is the book New Rules of Lifting for Women. I haven't read it myself, but I lot of people mentiion it on here and it is all good things.

When I first started lifting I used Jamie Eason's Life Fit. It is a free program on Bodybuilding.com and it worked for me, plus I could lurk in the forums there and got amazing advice and info whenever I needed it.

I got into weight training by taking a Les Mills Body Pump class... It's pretty intense for a beginner, but a great full body workout in a motivating group fitness environment. I find that this helps me push harder than I would if I was training on my own. Plus, there's music!

If you don't have access to some sort of class (or don't want to go that route) the Sweaty Betties (http://thesweatybetties.com/) have a 12-week lift program designed for beginners, plus they post lots of other workouts.

    Hope this helps!
