Any other nursing Mommies?

Hello! I've just started MFP today. I have two kids, 19 months apart (2 years & 5 months). EBF'ing #2 and #1 sometimes nurses before bed. I was 145 pre-kids, kept 10lbs with the first, as well as 10 that stuck around with #2 bringing me to 165. I'm aware that this is common, but I'd really like to get back to my original weight before we start trying for #3, and then I find myself with ANOTHER extra 10lbs to spare! =)

Two weeks ago I was about to begin training for a half marathon... and then I broke my wrist & had surgery. Getting through each day with my kids was more than enough work, so all running/health/fitness goals have been put on hold. I'm going to start slow with getting my eating under control to begin with.

I would really like some mommy friends to help support me... and especially any words of wisdom from fellow breastfeeders! =D

Hi! I have a 3 year old and a 7 month old. I am nursing my 7 month old mostly and she gets solids once a day. :) I was 230 when she was born and i've managed to get down to 175 from using MFP, counting calories, and doing Turbofire. My goal weight is 140 and hoping to be there by this December. I've found that breastfeeding has helped me get most of my weight off. Great job on nursing, btw! Good luck with your weight loss goals! oh, and feel free to add me!! :)

I will send you a request! You sound so much like me, even down to the tandem nursing! Mine are 23 months apart. I can really relate to so much of what you said.

Hi! Nursing mama here. I am currently nursing my 1 year old twins. ( Actually as I type this one of them is getting a late night snack. ;) I also nursed my five other children. Feel free to add me. Great job nursing your babies. I totally get the close babies thing. My closest children are 14 months apart my farthest apart are 23 months most are around 18 months apart. I have never tandem nursed tho. My supply goes away 2-3 months into the next pregnancy. It is neat that you were able to. Make sure you get enough calories to keep up supply. I know for me I can be tempted to go a little gung-ho on the weight loss thing. You can add in extra calories through your food log (enter breastfeeding and find the one that suits your needs best) or as exercise. Best wishes on your weight loss and nursing.

Hihi! Still nursing my 15 month old son here, and getting sooooo much grief about it. I was just in the hospital to have my gall bladder out, and with the exception of two nurses, everyone saw my pump, asked how old my baby was, and frowned when I told them. Someone actually had the gall to send a lactation specialist up to see me telling them I wanted to wean. I know it's hard to lose weight while still nursing, but I don't have a choice, it's GOT to come off.

I'm so sorry you've been given grief!! :( It is wonderful that you're still nursing! It's none of their business how old baby is!! Did you remind them that its recommended that you nurse until two, and even still beneficial beyond that? It amazes me how little some Dr.s know about BF'ing!

Good luck Mama... You can lose the weight!!! =D
  • I'm also having trouble taking off the weight this time. I have a 14 month old (still nursing!) and an almost 8-year old. The weight fell off after my first, but well...I was younger and had more time to work out! Now I'm a busy mom of two, and it sometimes feels like I struggle to find time for myself. I'm so glad to hear there are other moms here who are nursing older babies!

Hi, I'm a full time working nursing mom of two. I have a 3 year old and a 6 1/2 month old. Both are the lights of my life. The hardest part of nursing is pumping at work.

I'm currently 135 at 5'2, I never lost the 5 extra lbs from my first and now I have the additional 5 from my second. For some reason, I can't give up the sweets. It's like an addiction especially after a long stressful day. I would love to meet other nursing mothers. I find that most of my friends give up nursing after a few months. My ultimate goal is a year, but ended up drying up at 11 months with my daughter.

I miss working out, but treasure my time with my kids too much!

Hi I am a full time working and nursing mom. I have 4 kids 11, 9, 3 and 6 months. I need some support on how many calories to intake while I am trying to get in shape and lose this baby weight. I have lost 6.5 pounds since the beginning of the year but it is coming off slowly. I am wondering if I am getting enough calories. I also have a facebook back you can follow my daily track for motivation and support just another little community I created to help moms like us - find me on Facebook Fit & Fab Momma - and feel free to add me as a friend here - Thanks
  • Hey there! I'm also exclusively breastfeeding and I currently weigh about the same as you. My son is only 9 weeks old and he's my first, so I might not have a ton of experience, but I can try to help you out with some of the things that have been working for me :) Feel free to add me!!
  • Anyone else is also free to add me, I could use some support from some nursing moms! :)

I'm currently breastfeeding my youngest who will be 13 months tomorrow. My weight has definitely NOT come off easily. It's been a lot of hard work. Right now I'm sitting at around 124. I still have about 8-10 lbs to lose as well as a bunch of firming up. Right now, I'm mostly running 15-25 miles per week. I'm planning on continuing to breastfeeding until my son is at least 18 months old. Feel free to add me!
