Protein powder?

I've seen some people mention they have protein/whey powder for breakfast? Could somebody please explain why you'd use it?
Does it aid weight loss? Is it a meal replacement?
Sorry for sounding dumb!

I use protein powder to increase my protein intake. Particularly on workout days.
This, to be honest it's just a quick was to up my protein. I also find if I mix it with the milk on my cereal I feel fuller for longer (protein effect) since I'm always in too much of a rush to cook breakfast on work days this is important to me.0 -
I use it to help get my calories in for the day. I was having a hard time getting my calories in each day, so I added a couple protien shakes in there to help reach my goal. The protien is also good to help recover muscles.0

I use it as a filling snack and supplement to increase my protein (with minimal calories). Research has shown that diets with higher protein amounts (combined with strength training) preserve LBM with body fat loss.
My protein (GNC Wheybolic Amp) is 93 calories for 20 g of protein. It helps me feel less hungry and prevents muscle fatigue.0 -
I use it to increase my protein intake. I'm eating at a calorie deficit to lose some weight and don't want to lose much lean mass, so I'm doing strength training 2-3 times a week and cardio 3-4 times a week.
I also like it as a breakfast, since I have to be at work at 7am and I need to leave my house at 5:45am at the latest. It takes less than a minute to mix and probably less than a minute to drink. I'll usually eat a mid morning snack (really 2nd breakfast) around 9:30-10:00am if I have time (or remember to) at work.0 -
To increase protein. Herbalife--80cal for 20 g protein. Flavorless.0

I use it after my weight training workouts. Provides 26 grams of protein and only 2 grams of sugar for one scoop. I use Silk Unsweetened Almond milk instead of water which only adds another 30 calories and you get a bunch of calcium then. I also like it for a snack occasionally because it tastes like a milkshake. I use Body Fortress Whey Vanilla from Walmart for 13.99 for a huge container. I put frozen strawberries in it or sometimes a banana and blend it..Also sometimes I'll put 2 tbsp of flaxseed in it. Thick and tasty like a strawberry milkshake.0

I don't have a lot of interest in what the scale says anymore, but lately I've been lifting weights in an effort to improve my body composition. Adding a scoop of whey protein to what I'd eat anyway, just to maintain, is an easy way to create a small calorie surplus and increase my intake of protein in a single step.
I like chocolate flavored whey power mixed with half cup or so of cherry or berry Greek yogurt.0 -
I use it to up my protein intake as well as meal replacement....I tend not to eat in the morning but I will drink a shake. I have a shake after my weight workout as well.0

I use all natural hemp protein powder in smoothies or soup! It is a great Vegan alternative to traditional whey powder, with even more protein!0

I use it to add protein my my day.
Plus, it is something my body can handle in the morning. "Heavy/dense/or carbs" seem to upset my stomach and or blood sugar in the morning. I have found a simple protein shake to be the best breakfast for my headaches and low blood sugar
I use egg white or soy or whey proteins. With almond milk or reg milk. I try to change things around, as so many food allergies apron in the family.0
