Normal BMI

Hi guys,
My goal this year is to be in the normal BMI range. I've never been there before and I would love for anyone out there on a similar mission to add me on as a friend so we can all support each other.

I don't use BMI as a personal goal metric.
  • Hi, if you dont mind me asking, is yours to high or to low? ive been on both ends so i know how it feels, and being in a normal range does feel the best, you can do it! :)
  • I'm waaayyyyy over any normal BMI LOL.:P. Don't worry, you're well on your way of achieving your goal. I don't think a lot of people take notice of their BMIs, some very fit people I know are actually considered to be above their BMI lol...and I'm talking about gym fanatics! Don't stress too much about it girl, as long as you look and feel healthy, you'll get there:).

Hi peanutbutterx, I've been on the over side of the normal BMI. Would be great to be in the normal range and then work on body fat percentage.

    this

my long term goal is to be in the "overweight" range of BMI at 20% body fat or lower.

OP: I totally support you in your goal, but also advise you to measure body fat percentage, not just weight. It's the best way to find what weight you'll be healthiest and look best at.
  • one thing that really helped me when on the higher end of BMI to get to the normal range was that I cut out fried food and sugar. also i started eating wheat and whole grain bread stuff instead of white, and didnt eat anything past 10 pm. - alot of water too! it sounds simple, but it reaalllyy helps alot. and if your stayin in a limited amount of calories (like 1200 or whatever your comfortable at) cutting out those foods really helps you to be able to eat more stuff for less calories. Low fat is good, and healthy fats are important - like nuts and olive oil. butter, sugar, fried foods and white bread really dont help with loosing weight. lean meats (fish - i like talapia with salt pepper lemon and spray butter, shell fish, chicken, turkey, 93% fat free hamburger meat, lean meats, eggs) veggies, fruits, nuts (in moderation) really help. if you want somethin sweet, try frozen yogurt or sugar free instant chocalote puddng made with 2 % milk, peanut butter and low sugar strawberry/grape/blue berry jelly or jam on an english muffin or whole wheat toast, skinny cow ice creams/ weight watchers ice creams. things like that. promise, its good! anyways, those are some things that helped me aot. :)
