Damn shin splints!!

After going on the treadmill, I get terrible shin splints in both legs.... ILooking at getting a shin splint compression sleeve.... Has anyone used one? Have they helped? Can I wear one on both legs at the same time?

    Rather than try to fix the pain you need to find out why it's happening. Shin splints are usually from having weak shin muscles and/or from pounding down on your heels.

    A couple years ago, my brother recommended setting the incline up a notch (never zero). It seems to help me.

    Another thing that also seemed to help was to build up the muscle on the front of my calf. I did some silly lifting exercises with an old paint bucket with my heel supported.

    OMG! I hate shin splints! I still suffer from them :(

    I didn't know what they were as a kid, and it's the biggest reason I hated running. I remember always telling the P.E. teacher I felt like the bones in my legs were breaking. Of course they always rolled their eyes and still made me run. I still hate running to this day...

    I had this problem whilst training for a marathon some years ago, I got my running style analysed and discovered I was over pronating. Better running shoes, suited to my running style, solved the problem for me and it might work for you. Many good specialist running shops will analyse your running style for free.
