extremely sore legs

Hi,
I've been very active over the last year doing various exercise dvds and work out approx 4-5 times a week. I just added in the couch to 5 k program to prepare for a mud run in April. I did c25k a few years ago and had great success and wasn't sore. This time though my legs are soo tight I'm hobbling around. I'm stretching after I work out, and I'm not sure why I'm so uncomfortable. I can easily do the workouts, which are primarily waling with little jogs thrown in.
Could it be the cold? I am walking/jogging outside in 20 degree weather. Anyone have any advice on cutting down the soreness or comments on why I'm so sore this time around. My husband thinks it is just because I'm a couple years older.

Where are you feeling the soreness? In the thighs or in the shins?
If it is the shins, shin splints aren't uncommon, can get them from running too much too soon, or maybe you're trainers aren't right for your running gait. One of these is probably more likely than the other? So play around with it see if it helps.
As for thigh tightness, are you doing any other training on top? If you're doing such things as P90X at the same time, and maybe running after a leg day, you will feel the aches, even with the stretching. Have a nice warm bath when you get back from a run, or a shower, and just relax for the time being. It'll get easier, our bodies adapt pretty quickly, but again your body will respond differently now to what it did a couple of years ago.
Stick with it though x0
