I pushed the reset button

I have been an off an on exerciser for a while now. I hit rock bottom when I weighed the most I ever have last summer, and since then have been able to get rid of some of that weight. The good news is I've figured out that the best time for me to work out is in the afternoons, but with having school I have had to try to push myself in the mornings. I have a goal of not being embarrassed at the pool this summer, which is both a weight thing and an in shape thing for me.
Anyway, I need friends! So feel free to add me....insert lame joke here....

I think it helps to know that other people struggle with their weight as well. I just can't seem to get my eating under some type of control. When I eat I tend to eat crap or nothing. That is another problen I struggle with is just eating. I know that sounds insane but it is true. I have been told several times that if I just ate I would lose wiegh. I eat when I want not becasue I am hungery but becasue I feel like it. I need to start eating on a regular basis. I do go to the gym 3 or 4 or sometimes even 6 days a weeks. I don't know what I am doing there but I'm there! I do cardo. I heard I should also life some weights. I can't believe I am about to say this out loud but I weigh 196 pounds.....ugh that hurt that hurt very much! I need to weigh 160. I would love to weigh 140 but I don't know about that. Well, I hope we can give eachother some support! Have a great day.
P.S. I have weighed as much as 218......whoa! I can't ever do that again, That was when I was real unhappy. I'm happy now and ready to move forward! :happy:0 -
Thank you for sharing this story! I think a lot of people would benefit from hearing this. I have gone up and down quite a bit, and I'm just plain sick of it! I'm ready to be able to do all of the things that I want to do and not have to worry about pushing myself too hard. I used to run a lot, and then that got boring, so I tried other things. It seems like I have all the parts of a healthy life-style, but not all at the same time. This is the time that I'm going to get it all working together!
I think the fact that you have shared means a lot toward your personal goals. Showing that you recognize where you have been and stating where you would like to go, that means progress! I totally understand.
For me, it was so much easier not to eat or to eat very little. I still managed to lose a lot of weight. I worked out (mostly cardio) several times (3-6) every week.
Now I'm paying the price. I don't like the shape my body is in because my muscles have little to no definition. I'm trying to work on that but I'm not as confident in my approach.
Switching gears now to do what it takes to get in shape.
Adding both of you. Ask me anything. Don't know if it'll help, but I'll answer...0 -
I was drawn to your choice of words, or should I say word...RESET! When I found that button one day when I went for weight in it changed my entire attitude. And knowing that I have a reset button helps me to forgive myself and move forward. I still struggle, I still fall down and the scale is not my friend, because the scale only does one thing..weights..it doesn't weight all my successes, all my efforts, all my life changes...keep the good fight and watch how your lives change and as your core changes, then the outside will change. I have been doing this for a long time. At 28 I was 5'1" and two hundred pounds..now I am 48, weight 165 and still 5'1". And as I work on my inner core/self, my outer image/body has also changed. For me it's all about balance, a different kind of scale keep up the good fight as shall I..0

It's awesome that you found a time of day that works for you...that helped me a lot too. I'm a late afternoon/evening exerciser. It is so much more enjoyable when you don't have to force yourself to get up at the crack of dawn, in my opinion! anyway, welcome to MFP, i've been using for awhile now but just started doing the message board thing, it's fun0
