Just back from a visit to the doctor and dropped my blood pressure meds completely, dropped Triglyceride meds completely, Advicor - gone, Diabetes meds dramatically reduced.

There must be something to this weight loss thing.

Guess I will keep at it.

    Congratulations!

That is such an acheivement! And I know--I'm diabetic with high blood pressure and on cholesterol med, too. But my diabetes meds have been cut in half by my doc since I've been on MFP. I go back in a month or so for my quartely A1C and am hoping to maybe cut out some more of my daily "pill meal."!

    Congrats again!

My doctor is ecstatic about my weight loss. He was really pressing me to get gastric bypass and I made my mind up that I could get on top of this problem without that extreme. I don't have it whipped but I am feeling pretty good about the progress so far.

    Thank you for the feedback.

I was taking Glyburide (its a pretty powerful combo drug) 500 MG morning and evening and Avandia 8 MG in the morning and my blood sugars were not controlled. After the first 35 pounds the Glyburide was too strong - hypoglycemic tendencies. Changed to Metformin 500 2 X daily and continued the Avandia. Had to drop the Avandia about a month ago.

I was taking Blood pressure with diruretic 2 X daily,
    Triglyceride drug 2 X daily
    1 cholesterol drug daily
and a couple of more that I don't really know their exact role.

It is really great to be down to just the Metformin 2 X daily and 1 evening med.

I am hopeful that I can drop all meds after I am down another 100 pounds.

Thanks for you feedback and best of luck to you!

:drinker: :drinker: Congratulations:drinker: :drinker: I have had my diabetes med. reduced since I have started, but the blood pressure med. increased. :frown: I am so looking forward to getting to where you are, hopefully get to where I don't need the meds but control it with diet and exercise. You gave me a good reason to keep going and knowing it really works is a good motivation for me. Thanks for sharing.

glad to know you got off the Avandia--I was on that until last year when the studies come out and my doc took me off it right away. she put me on Glimipiride 2x a day to go along with my Metformin 500mg 2x a day. Now I only take the Metformin and no Glimipiride--I was getting lows several times a day since I've been exercising and losing weight.
