Warning for people low carbing

You will feel nauseous the first couple days of low carbbing especially if you try to do an Atkin's style induction phase (eating 25-50g/day or less). But tough it out because you'll feel euphoric once ketosis turns full on after those days - I puked last week because of it but the next day I felt super energetic and had a sense of well being. I cheated Valentines day and Sunday which kicked me out of ketosis and again I felt nauseous and out of it for the past two days of restarting low carb (yesterday was especially bad) but today I woke up and I feel great and have a lot more energy!

keto acidosis is dangerous, its poison in your blood! if your breath starts smelling like acetone (nail polish remover) then your in trouble.. this happens with people with anorexia and also if your on atkins.. just try to eat healthy and eat fruit veggies and whole grain breads and lean meats.. not trying to tell you what to do, but just be careful it can get really dangerous people get really sick from that0

Ketosis and ketoacidosis are different.... it's very hard for a non-diabetic to reach ketoacidosis. But I see your point - I drank a lot of water yesterday when I felt really bad and it did help - probably by diluting the acid but now I'm fine and feel damn good!keto acidosis is dangerous, its poison in your blood! if your breath starts smelling like acetone (nail polish remover) then your in trouble.. this happens with people with anorexia and also if your on atkins.. just try to eat healthy and eat fruit veggies and whole grain breads and lean meats.. not trying to tell you what to do, but just be careful it can get really dangerous people get really sick from that0

It's really even hard for a type 2 diabetic to become ketoacidotic. We mostly see it in type 1's or far advanced type 2's who need insulin. I am a type 2 an I suspect that I've been in ketosis for weeks now. Never felt better.
If people increase their sodium while they are coming off the carbage it will help alleviate some of the crappy feelings.0 -
Part of the nausea and crap feeling may be you experiencing die off of bad organisms in your body, now that there aren't sugary carb conversions to fuel them.0

yep, Ketoacidosis requires 2 things, lack of insulin and ketones.
If you are a type2 who produces insulin, you have to watch out for hyperosmotic, non ketotic coma....fancy way of saying coma brought on by dehydration from extremely high blood sugars.
Personally, I was dx'd with moderate ketones and bg's of nearly 400 and was told I had a long way to go before ketoacidosis was of any worry.0 -
Having done this, and also coaching people on a Low Carb plan, Usually these type of symptoms (Including fuzzy headed-ness and feeling run down) can be addressed with a Non Calorie Sports Drink. We usually see this on Day three. I have only heard of one person with the nausea issue.0

Just walked 3 miles, half uphill and I literally felt high.... could be the endorphins + running on ketones . Had so much energy!0

The nausea - last week when I first experienced it I felt like I was dying and dry puked. But the next day I felt euphoric like I do today with no hunger - I ate 400 calories worth of chicken breast this morning and burned 1000 calories walking uphill an hour ago and I'm STILL not hungry! What is the warning exactly? Don't cheat on your diet or you'll have to break back into ketosis and it sucks??0

Wow - are you always this rude?
I questioned your post as it made no sense - I'm not a mind reader and had no way of knowing you were referring to candida as you did not state it (not sure that "bad organisms" is a clinical term). To assume people reading your post would know what you were talking about is very presumptuous.0 -

And, out of courtesy, I looked it up... and it's hokum.

Also, if you don't get enough fibre a la eating all bacon and eggs and neglecting veggies, you'll get horrible constipation.
I was reminded of this by seeing the word "carb" and "crap" in the same post, and realising if you switch the B and the A around and flip and mirror the "b/p", you get the same word. Freaking magic.0
