Why isn't there a bar code scanner for MFP?
It would make my life a bit easier not because I'm not willing to read nutrition labels, but because they are hard for me to see.

    I have Android and there is a bar code scanner. When you enter a new food you click the bar code beside the food search box. I think you have to have a bar code scanner app installed on your phone already.

    I have a scanner on my app for iPhone... it's usually accurate, but not always. For example, It thinks my flour is brown sugar, for some reason.

    Yes, you still have to pay attention. It always puts in a certain salad dressing as half the calories.

    My bar code scanner (iPhone) used to work like a charm, as of last week it won't scan anything.

    I have iphone and I use my scanner all the time! Android has it as well, I just changed phones.

    Love the android barcode scanner, haven't found anything that didn't pop up....however today on first scan it thought my cream cheese was orange juice. I re-did it and it came up correctly! :)

    The barcode scanner is the BEST thing about the app! Just double check things though - once in a while it's not right.

    There is a bar code scanner, unless you haven't updated your app in like 2 years. What are you using?

    Can you please share the specific bar code app? I have an Android phone and there are a few choices. Also, how do you link it to MFP?

    Just search in the store for MFP and it should come up. The MFP app has a barcode option when you enter food - it is to the right of the search box.

    Yup. I just noticed it last week myself.

    On my iPhone App, when you click the Add To Diary button, then select the meal you want to add to, in the top right corner next to the search Food area is the Bar Code scanner. VERY USEFUL!

    there IS a bar code scanner for MFP on the mobile site.

    I love the barcode scanner on my iPhone app. When you click add, pick the meal/time of day you want to add to, in the top right corner there is a barcode looking button! Try that...

    I'm not a big fan of the MFP barcode scanner because of all the trouble I've had with it. I use it with my iPad and have had loads of issues. When it works, it's awesome though.

    I have the Droid Razzr Maxx and it has a bar code scanner in the app -- greatest part of the app!

    If you have an Android system, you download the MFP app out of the the Google Play store, and then when you go to add foods in, it has a little button you hit that looks like a barcode. hit that, and then scan the barcode. ta-da

    I wrote a long peice about this a few weeks back, how if MFP just had a barcode scanner like my old Calorie Counter app it woul be cool. Then I found it the next day.

    I have a Nexus 7 tablet, which is Android based, but I do not get the scan symbol when adding food. Does anyone know if I need to download a special scanner app?

    I use both an Optimus G and my Nexus 7 for logging. My LGOG, rooted running lifeless rom works fine, but my Nexus 7, again rooted running CM 10.1 nightly no longer works. I believe this to be because MPF is coded to look for a rear camera but the device only has a front facing. Not to mention, with the N7, while there is a camera, without a hack(a modaco camera launcher) the end user does not have much access to the camera.

    I believe if I were to attempt decompiling the MFP app, I may be able to correct the issue, but I am unsure how well updates with play with the "modded" version, even being re-signed. Thinking about it now, I might even be as simple as a build.prop edit. If I figure anything out, I will post, but really tho, it's only going to be help for those with either a N7 or possibly another tablet.

    MFP Bar Code Scanner for iphone 4 works perfectly, but if you want another option, not for MFP, but just to check nutrition facts there is one called Fooducate...it has a BC Scanner and it gives you a letter grade for foods along with the nutrition facts...also you can shake your phone for random barcodes and it is a great way to learn which foods are good to shop for and which are not...

    As far as i know you don't need any extra barcode scanner app, only the mfp app. I've used androids and iphones and haven't needed any extra apps... haven't had any of the problems others have mentioned tho for certain devices.
