Scale fear.

So, I know this might sound kind of odd, but I am ridiculously afraid to get on the scale this week. Last week I had a REALLY big loss, and normally I step on the scale every other day, just to see where I am, and I generally don't take it too seriously, or get discouraged if my weight goes up. That being said, after this big loss last week, I am really freaked out about weighing myself. I went from 205 to 201.2 this past week, and I think maybe it has to do with being so close to getting under 200. I've been staying on track with both eating and exercise, but I can't seem to shake this feeling of dread about weighing myself. I know a lot of people will probably respond by saying just not to weigh myself, but that's not how I want to do things. I want to be able to live with whatever it says, and not have to avoid it like the plague, because it actually is helpful for me to be able to look at what it says and learn from it when I can. I normally don't feel like this, so I guess I need something to get me past this little me against the scale moment I'm having here. I think, too, I'm really afraid of plateauing (in terms of my weight), because that's been a big issue for me in the past, and something that I've had a tendency to let derailed my success. Basically, when I plateau, I have a tendency to give up, and that is what I really want to avoid. Perhaps I'm just psyching myself out. I'm just feeling kind of freaked out about not going all the way this time. Around this weight is where my body has had a tendency to stop responding in the past, and I guess, more than anything, it's that I'm scared of. I said tendency a few more times than I meant to. ****, oh well.

For me, after a big loss, I won't lose as much weight the next week because there was something out of the ordinary that made the big loss happen. Don't expect a big loss. Expect the same weight. Step on the scale, and remember that you have already come very far and that you still have accomplishments to meet in the future. Don't worry if the number goes up or down. Track it, and then move on. Keep doing the best you can, and note how you feel. In the end, this journey is about getting comfortable with yourself for life. So, instead of the number, whether it is good or bad, remember what you're doing will help you love yourself more later.0

It seems to me that when I have a larger loss one week, I'll be up just a bit the next. So it might go: 3 down, 1 up, 1.5 down, for example. Still a 3.5 pound loss over 3 weeks, which isn't bad. Just mentally prepare yourself that it might be the same or a bit up. It doesn't mean that you did anything wrong, or that you are heading in the wrong direction, it's just one of those weird things bodies do.0

Try not to think about it and just do it....for me, when I avoid the scale I begin to put weight on. You need to know where you are at - ups, downs, stalls are all art of the journey to everyone. Go for it!0
