Training for a Warrior Dash?

I have signed up for the local Warrior Dash and I'm a little lost on how to train for it. It's a 5K obstacle course with obstacles like walls to scale and fire to jump over. How do I train for this? I can mostly run a 5K right now depending on the terrain. I am at the gym at least 5 days a week and do 30 minutes of cardio followed by 30 minutes of weight training. Is this good or is there another way to train?

Well if you can run a 5k you will be fine as far as the running is concerned. You could always add in some hill sprints to help you crush the steeper portions of terrain. Otherwise I would focus my time on pull-ups, vertical jump training and other body-weight exercises. The Warrior Dash isn't that hard honestly if you are exercising fairly regularly.
  • With your cardio + weight work at the gym you'll be just fine for the Warrior Dash. I did my first one this past year and will be doing another this year. It's a ton of fun and you can go at your own pace.

If anything I'd suggest focusing on your upper body strength to help pull yourself up ropes and the like.
