Giving up sugar before my teeth fall out

I have a long history of eating high-sugar foods, my weight isn't too bad (about 10lbs over at present) but my teeth are paying the price. I need over £500 of work done on just two teeth.
It's time to stop ruining my health. Any advice/support/experiences welcome!

I went cold turkey at the beginning of January - no chocolate, sweets, biscuits cakes etc. After a few weeks, I found that it has become easier and easier to not eat those foods and I do feel better for it. I don't have the lethargy, have clearer skin and my head feels c learer somehow.

I gave up sugar 3 days ago and I feel like death, I'm tired, feel sick, my legs are weak and my hands shake, but it'll get better, it has to and then it will be worth it! (I hope)0

There is always a painful period of withdrawal when going cold turkey on ANY drug. You are detoxing - drink LOADS of water.0 -
Ive had horrible teeth all my life - 6 fillings before age of 15 - and last 6 months Ive brushed more, flossed more, cut out most sugar and most soda. Went dentist yesterday and was told I now had perfect oral hygiene! So proud. Its defiently worth it not to be in agony constantly.0

Oh my, that just goes to show what sugar can do. I ate some rather nice lemon cake last night and instantly got a headache and felt crabby...(sometimes that's normal for me though!). I have pretty much cut out processed sugar things these days - just not worth the side-effects, I started by substituting with fresh or dried fruit that I liked instead of the sugary thing (biscuit/cake whatever!). I tried to be careful about portion sizes though. Some go cold turkey (see tip above ^^ + good multivitamin, lots of nutritious fresh foods & any activity to distract you from cravings).
I have a handful of mixed berries in a home-made smoothie or plain yoghurt now & a square of proper dark chocolate most evenings and I can just about cope with that!

Yeah I have that Jelly-lite stuff, no sugar and I can have a whole bowl for 14 calories, I just keep forgetting to buy it, and my toothache is gone! I've had it so long!0
