If you have a Vitamix, you MUST try green smoothies!!!!!!
My favorite:
2 cups of greens - usually baby spinach and kale
1/2 ripe avocado
1 FROZEN banana
2 kiwi's - ends chopped off, but skin ON - WASH THEM!!!
1 cup liquid (I started off using 1/2 apple juice/water combo, but now I just use water to cut down on sugar)
Blend until velvety smooth!!!!!
Mmmmm I wasn't going to have a smoothie this morning, but I think I am off to get some Blendtec love!!!!!!! Enjoy!!!!!!
*You can also use berries, or whatever you want!!! It's such an easy way to get in some greens!!!0 -
Oh another one that I used to always make -
Handful of frozen pineapple
4 frozen peach slices
6 frozen strawberries
1 banana
1 cup pineapple coconut juice
Oh my tropical goodness!!!!!!! Just know that it is a sugar bomb!!!! LOL!!! But it is SOOOOOOOO GOOD!!!!!
Enjoy!!!0 -
Vitamix = WONDERFUL GREEN SMOOTHIES.
Whatever smoothie I make, it gets 2 big handfuls of spinach...... Basically, I just toss whatever I have in, with some greek yogurt and a little almond milk.0 -
Thank you for the ideas, will try them this week0

I just got mine last week and I like to keep my smoothies low calorie. I use about a cup of spinach, 2-3 ounces frozen pineapple, 2-3 ounces frozen Mango or peaches. About half a cup of water and blend thoroughly in vitamix. It's a little tangy. But filling! It's under 150 calories and so good for u!0

Cabbage (red or green), spinach, carrot, yellow squash, or zucchini can be used in any fruit smoothie without the taste of vegetables....Just a tip.
When I make my protein smoothie with fruit I try to toss in one or more of the above.
I am also going to be making my own peanut butter and almond butter.
You can also use it as a food processor. I grill chicken breast then process in the Vitamix for some homemade chicken salad. Add some celery, sweet pickles, miracle whip, and red seedless grapes to taste.0 -
Well one of my favs is:
4-8 bananas (depending if its a snack or a meal smoothie)
3-5 medjool dates
1tbsp of cinnamon
add water to desired consistency
It's soo sweet and delicious!!0 -

2 cups (1 tub) Fage 0% Greek Yogurt - Plain
1 Minneola Orange
Zest from the above - 2 tbsp?
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1/8 cup almond milk
Blend and then freeze. Remove from freezer about 2 hours before you plan to eat.
Omit the almond milk if you don't plan to freeze it.0 -
I use plain or vanilla yogurt
1 full banana
frozen fruit (I love the frozen fruit medely)
Then blend. Since I use frozen fruit, I don't add any ice. My daughter (4yrs old) and I drink this quite a bit and she loves it.0 -

Just got my Vitamix and am wondering if anyone ever puts in dry oats and if that works? I tried it yesterday but am thinking I didn't blend it long enough. Looking for a substantial smoothie to be a meal replacement for breakfast. So far have tried various fruits and spinach and LOVE it, so looking for more variety. Will have to try greek yogurt as well.
How about a protein powder that doesn't have Whey or Soy in it?0 -
Rainbow Light (available at whole foods) has a great brown rice protein powder called Protein Energizer. It comes in Vanilla, Chocolate and Berry, 15 grams of brown rice protein with spirulina and all kinds of other nutrients. NO soy, whey, gluten, dairy or added sugar. tastes great!
