After reading the symptoms of eating disorder on a site ,im sure now tht i have tht

wat to do?

is there a medication 4 tht? (pills or ne medicine?..) :(

    Counseling. You might need medication if there's an element of depression or obsessive-compulsive disorder mixed in with the eating disorder. But I think it's mostly a matter of getting your head in the right place.

    Go to a doctor/dietitian/nutritionist. Let them figure out if you really do have an ED
    Then listen to their advice :)

    Find a really good therapist. Sometimes you don't "fit" well with your first try but be patient and you will find someone you can talk to who will guide you through recovery and find the right kind of therapy for you (medication, one-on-one, group therapy, retreats, etc.). You can do this! Be brave and take the first step to reach out for help. Speaking from experience, it is the best thing you can do for yourself and your health!

    Dramatic weight loss in a relatively short period of time.
    Visible food restriction and self-starvation.
    Use or hiding use of diet pills, laxatives
    Hiding food in strange places (closets, cabinets, suitcases, under the bed) to avoid eating (Anorexia) or to eat at a later time (Bulimia).
    Pre-occupied thoughts of food, weight and cooking.
    Visiting websites that promote unhealthy ways to lose weight.
    Reading books about weight loss and eating disorders.
    Self-defeating statements after food consumption.
    Dizziness and headaches.
    Low self-esteem. Feeling worthless. Often putting themselves down and complaining of being "too stupid" or "too fat" and saying they don't matter. Need for acceptance and approval from others.
    Complaints of often feeling cold.
    Constipation or incontinence.
    Mood swings. Depression. Fatigue.
    Insomnia. Poor sleeping habits

    You real need to talk to a psychiatrist about proper medication for managment of your symptoms, and if you have the means get cousnseling ASAP. If you do not have insurance or the money for couseling. You will need to rely on some solid friends to get your through this. I suggest if you have no one to talk to IRL that there are many people here on MFP who stroggle with an eating disorder and can help hold you accountable. This is going to be hard work but so worth conquering. Now it's reading what you can to manage it. Youll have this diease for the rest of your life, but if you can get your mind around why you have such a bad relationship with your food and body you will be able to succeed.

    1) You can't really get medication for it until you are properly diagnosed.

    2) Speak to a professional, get properly diagnosed. You'll get a better treatment plan that way.

    In the meantime (or if you are having trouble scraping up the money to find one - you can always google "low-income mental health care + the name of your town), attending 12 step Overeaters Anonymous groups (you can also find out more about that by googling) might be a realistic approach as well.

    If you are vomiting to lose weight STOP RIGHT NOW! There are serious, permanent health risks involved. It sounds like a good idea, but it isn't! You can kill yourself getting your electrolytes out of balance. You can destroy the enamel on your teeth so you have a brown or black smile and rotted teeth. You can destroy the structures of your throat causing acid reflux. That means Prevacid every day for the rest of your life (and it isn't cheap). You can develop sleep apnea from the structures being destroyed. That is when you fall asleep, you snore REALLY loudly, stop breathing, wake yourself up, then doze off again. All night long. It means no restful sleep. Tired all the time (and wanting to eat to give yourself energy). Even relaxing during sex can cause you to start snoring! Not many men appreciate that! Some people fall asleep driving, they are so tired, and end up killing themselves or someone else. The treatment is usually a CPAP machine. That you have to use every time you want to sleep, even cat naps. It is about the size of a breadbox, goes everywhere you go. Traveling by plane, you have to unpack it and they inspect them carefully for bombs, so EVERYONE in line knows you have it. Not fun on a college field trip. Or staying overnight with a boyfriend. It has a hose and a face mask you wear. You look like a jet fighter pilot. Or an elephant. NOT sexy. NOT conducive to having good sex or sharing a bed. Oh, and if you don't use the CPAP, you can get high blood pressure, have a stroke or a heart attack. I thought I was being so clever making myself vomit to avoid getting fat. Now I am paying the price and I wish I never had purged. Trust me on this one. It is not worth it.

    I think you have a general misunderstand of how eating disorders work. Telling someone to stop purging for x, y, z reason because it's bad for their health isn't really conducive to getting them to stop, especially over the internet. Purge disorders aren't about throwing up as a way to lose weight. It is much more complicated than that and the oversimplification you're using and the implication that someone is doing it to themselves because they're too short-sighted to see the consequences is offensive. Just FYI.

    :cry: :brokenheart: You were one of my newest MFP friends. I had high hopes for you and still do. Please listen to everyone's advice about getting professional help. It sounds like a complex nasty problem that requires proper intervention. I am sure you can beat it though, as I've seen you be insightful, inquisitive, and brave...all these in just in the short time I've interacted with you.     OP where did you find those list of symptoms? I don't mean to sound insensitive but it looks like you copied and pasted from the site you were just talking about reading.

    I know people close to me who have suffered a form of ED and some of what you listed are signs, but are you experiencing ALL of those, or just some?

    Be kind to yourself and seek professional help if you think you have an ED and don't self-diagnose yourself or ask any of us here to do that for you.

    I think you might be getting a little too carried away here regarding the CPAP machine. Not just people who have ED are subject to this. ANYONE with sleep apnea benefits from this. And it's not THAT bad!

    Over eating to me is easier to stop that bulimia or anorexia i know people with both sadly but i used to be an over eater and i did it as soon as i walked in the door. It was due to depression and feeling trapped among other things. You just have to believe and know that there is a bright future for you, one that also includes proper eating and portion sizes. I did not see a specialist, i honestly would try doing it on your own, it feels like a true accomplishment, however if after a week you cannot seem to get a handle on things then seek help. I also recommend eating 6 smaller meals a day so it doesn't feel like you go foreverrrr without food. helped me a bunch!! good luck girl!
